The National Enquirer reported on Tuesday that O.J. Simpson was attacked in the Nevada prison and beaten unconscious. He spent three weeks in the infirmary.

Inmates cheered as a muscular young skinhead knocked him to the ground, punching and kicking him to a bloody pulp and inflicting injuries so severe he secretly spent nearly three weeks in the infirmary before he recovered.

According to the report, prison authorities have "done their best" to keep the beating a secret and Simpson is now afraid to leave his cell.

The 63-year-old has reportedly been a "marked man" in prison "ever since white supremacists overheard him brag about his sexual conquests of beautiful white women."

In an odd coincidence and strange timing, OJ's appeal to the Nevada SC just got turned down--he was claiming that he deserved a new trial in part because the jury that convicted him was racist.

I would bet money this "beating" never happened. OJ is a chronic liar and will do and say anything to get out of prison. Using race has been successful in getting him out of trouble in the past, so he's using it again. Psychopaths are always suckering people like this. It's part of their basic repertoire.

I cannot condone the violence perpetrated on him, and still be able to condemn what he did. It would be hypocritical. We must always be mindful never to confuse vengeance with justice. We cannot satisfy the need for the former without potentially denying the fulfillment of the latter.

Hours after sources, sparked by a National Enquirer report that O.J.Simpson was severely beaten inside a Nevada prison, officials at Lovelock Correctional Center said the story is untrue Tuesday, Feb. 15.

According to Steve Suwe, a public information officer at the prison, the facility is getting flooded with calls about the report.

Each caller is being told that an incident during which Simpson was kicked, punched and bitten by a member of a Nazi gang never happened.

“Totally bogus," Suwe told the USA Today regarding the validity story "We laughed over that one.”

This really disappoints me...not that the story is false, but the fact that Huffington Post has sunk to the level of posting unsubstantiated tabloid tripe. I know that the Enquirer should set off some red flags, but they DO occasionally come up with something that's true, even though it's also sensationalized.

I'll be a little more discriminating about posting this kind of thing in the future. Lesson learned!

UPDATE: According to USA Today, a prison official said that the National Enquirer's report about O.J. Simpson being attacked is "totally bogus." Steve Suwe, the public information officer for the Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada, denied the claims in an interview with Game On!
