Had a final blowout with a Teabagger/Republican on Facebook
Edited on Mon Dec-20-10 09:46 AM by gibby2433
A year or so ago a liberal friend of mine told me about this guy he knew who was a raging conservative and they regularly had some heated political debates on his friend's Facebook wall. The guy had basically turned his wall into a place for Teabaggers to congregate and vent about the evils of the Obama administration. He gave me the guy's name and told me to send a friend request; he'd happily accept and it would be a lot of fun arguing with these irrational "small guvment" bigots.

Well, it was, until I was also exposed to another guy who clearly reveled in being the Wall "bully." He spent all his time raging against the evil, socialist/communist/Nazi Liberals who were the reason for all the problems of the country, and the world. He's a stereotypical extreme conservative/Constitutionalist who feels he has a moral and intellectual superiority over anyone who disagrees with him; even a little.

Well, yesterday I made a snarky little response to a post he made about citizens potentially having to pay back a certain Obama tax credit from last year. I just wrote some sarcastic garbage about how this should make the Teabaggers happy, nothing in life is free (especially from the Guv'ment) and that these people should've been aware of this potential repayment - it's call "personal responsibility," and if the repayment hurts, you still have the freedom to "pull yourself up by your bootstraps," etc. You know, the usual Right-Wing chatter about "freedom" and "patriotism."

In fact, here's my entire comment - "Thought you tea partiers were against handouts. This should make you happy, yes? Can't have it both ways. Gotta pull your weight. Taxpayers should have realized this long before now; it's called personal responsibility. If this repayment hurts may I suggest you pull yourself up by your bootstraps and just work a little harder."

Well...I wasn't expecting his response. After the usual shyte about socialist Obama trying to take all his money and give it to undeserving deadbeats he ended with this line - "Furthermore, Scotty, if you were in my presence if you had said that and if I thought you were serious I would BEAT YOUR ASS within an inch of your life!"

I just wanted to share the inner-workings of the teabagger, firsthand. What I wrote had no violent or antagonizing overtones, I thought I was clearly being snarky (and my posting history on this wall should've indicated that, as well), but the humorless teabagger is so friggin' angry over this Democratic president, who has acted more REPUBLICAN than anything, that they are constantly walking through life in a kind of simmering rage. I made it clear that I wouldn't be responding to his posts or comments anymore and used some four-letter words in the process. He, of course, blasted back with more rage (even bringing Nancy Pelosi's name in, who I never even mentioned LOL), and clarified that his threat of beating me up was not a threat but a promise.

In summation, these are the people trying to "take their country back." It's fueled by hatred, nothing more. And you CAN'T reason with their blind faith dogma toward all things conservative.

Just wanted to share.

2. Almost all of the reich-wingers are like this. Discussing or debating is USELESS.
Many of us know this. Unfortunately, the Dems in power seem to have missed this truth. So, they actively pursue rethug goals like the destruction of Social Security.

At this point, Obama acting in a real bipartisan manner would be a drastic improvement instead of the full-capitulation model he is following. At least, we might get a little instead of nothing.

But his craving for approval from those who hate him so much is leading to even more damage than the bushies caused.

11. Amazes me how some waste their time arguing with them
When they resort to name calling and violence it just means that they have no logical argument. Of course they never did have and have been sold a shit sandwich and they would have to realize that their whole whole belief system is built on lies and all their leaders, especially their preachers are thieving scoundrels. What ya think, anybody that dumb is gonna see the error and admit it publicly. Most will just fade away after a few years of being ridiculed and marginalized.

4. The Vast Majority, I'd Think
You said "most", and i think you're being kind. I'd say 99,999 out of every 100,000. And, 80% of those that fit the extra "1", would be easy to pound into the pavement.

All talk, no action.

5. No, he lives thousands of miles from me, it was all talk
So I was more surprised by the outburst than anything, mainly because I thought my comments were pretty vanilla compared to some things we'd said to each other. We'd had really hardcore "name-calling" arguments before but he'd never reacted this way. In subsequent comments on the post he offered to give me his address, for crying out loud. So this was it for me, I wanted heated political debate but he finally "jumped the shark" as it were.

Thanks, fascisthunter, I don't think I did anything wrong either
I gladly engaged him for a solid year but when someone threatens me (even online) I don't wanna play that game. It's sad actually because the owner of the Facebook wall, while a ragin' teabagger himself, has always invited a serious debate and allows the few "liberals" he's friended to speak loudly and without limits. It's only this one guy who considers himself the superior to all who has regularly ruined the "fun" of this opportunity to interact with extreme Right teabaggers. I still plan on commenting on the wall but will actively ignore anything he says to me directly or in general.

8. I'm sure you like your friend but a threat is a crime
and a cease and desist order would give your patriotic friend a criminal record.

9. Appreciate your thought Lint
but I really don't take it that seriously. He's a moron, pure and simple. He's just one of these "Don't Tread on Me" arseholes who want to stomp any and all positions that don't exactly coincide with his own.

He's a joke, not a threat.

I like your passion! And you nailed it on the head. He's one of these blowhards who thinks this is truly HIS country, and all of us "non-believers" are allowed to live here, too, at his allowance.

I'm in the Northeast, he's in the Northwest. Probably not gonna get this Pay-Per-View special off the ground ;)

12. You got the better of him. Your response was good.
One of my anti-Obama relatives stopped sending me his barrage of anti-Obama forwards when I answered one of his chain-mail forwards with this (first, his e-mail that I responded to):

You have 6 minutes.....

There's some mighty fine advice in these words, even if you're not superstitious. This has been sent To you for good luck from the Anthony Robbins organization. It has been sent around the world ten times so Far. You will receive good luck within four days of relaying this.

Do not keep this message. It must leave your hands in 6 MINUTES.

Otherwise you will get a very unpleasant surprise. This is true, even if you are not superstitious, agnostic, or otherwise faith impaired.

Now, here's the FUN part!

1-4 people: Your life will improve slightly.

5-9 people: Your life will improve to your liking.

9-14 people: You will have at least 5 surprises in the next 3 weeks

15 and above: Your life will improve drastically and everything you ever dreamed of will begin to take shape.

My response:

Just for good measure, I stood as best I could on my hands, awkwardly twirled around 10 times, & chanted "I'm a George Bush patriot" toward, unfortunately, a not-even-close-to-full moon last night. I'm looking forward to a "drastically improved life & getting everything I've ever dreamed of"!

This is a hoot!

13. They're all talk. I used to get physically threatened over email
My niece, while in high school, sent out a world's dumbest celebrity quotes, which I had seen featured on Snopes so I replied all (like I normally do) and corrected some of the quotes including a bunch of Dan Quayle quotes that somehow got attributed to Al Gore and then for fun included some George W. ones. One of her classmates took exception, and he and I started emailing back and forth - his threatening to kick a mudhole in my chest for daring to have opinions different than his, and my replies were basically my mocking him.

Eventually though, my niece got wind of it all and called me laughing saying that she had gone up to the guy in question and showed him a picture of me (this was when I had more time to weight train) and told him, "He's 4 times bigger than you. Are you sure you want to get in a fight with him?" Not that I would ever pound on a high schooler just for some nasty emails, but I told him I was coming into town to visit family, and if he wanted an opportunity to, "kick a mudhole in my chest," I would meet him at the McDonalds, buy him a Happy Meal, and he could attempt it in the parking lot. His last few emails to me were quite a bit more respectful. :)

14. I lost a friend last week who didn't like my views on Michael Vick.
She is originally from the Philly area and I guess sports alliances are more important than animals being tortured and murdered.

I'm good with it, I don't want insane friends anyway.

20. I wonder what makes these teabaggers...
think they will be kicking someones's ass, they must really think they have some super powers over everyone who doesn't agree with them. There will be a situation and it is coming sooner than they think where they some ass kicking will be going on and it won't be Liberals, they run their mouths on television or when they are with a crowd,.

Teabaggers and their leaders are now trying to pretend as though the liberals are provoking violence, when in reality it is them. I get tired of hearing this shit about how we on our side need to be nice. In my opinion, these people have needed their asses kicked in more ways than one,for a looooooonnng time.

The repub/teabaggers keep telling us what the AMERICAN PEOPLE want as though these nuts are speaking for the majority of the country. I can't wait for January when they really come out full force, there is a silent majority who are already at their limit so keep it up TEABAGGERS you will be gettin what you want very soon...and it ain't going to be pretty.

24. Agreed, butterfly, but the teabaggers will get an "ass-kicking" very soon
when they realize the Tea Party was nothing more than an invention by the Republican Party to energize their once-loyal base. Think about it, are Dick Army, Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin, etc. REALLY outside the Republican mainstream? They spout some occasional extreme-Right rhetoric but at the end of the day they support the Republican agenda at-large.

Come January all these working-class teabaggers are going to be left wondering where their "leaders" all went. When they realize they've been duped even more than Obama supporters are feeling right now. And I'm going to be laughing my frickin' ass off.

It's racism....no matter how you turn it around. They hate him because he a black man threatening their "culture".

You need to call him on it and see what his respsonse is.

You should also ask him why he resorts to violence when he can't answer a quetion?
