It's what you always wanted, but it's missing just one thing: a little love. It palliates the hole, but does not fill it in. You can buy as many of them as possible, but you'll never really be satisfied. You'll just end up a sick, bloated, disease ridden consumer. You'll lumber around like a dinosaur on the verge of extinction. And what happens when you lose your job, because it can and will be sent overseas? Well, you don't matter. You're a redundancy, not a person. A number to be managed, deleted, and forgotten. That's the truth of America today.

Many on DU will be lucky enough to fall within the norm, and won't have to experience that. But some of us are not so lucky. It sounds absolutely crazy, it's like there are two different Americas, one in which bad things happen, and one in which good things happen. An ever larger number of us are moving to the bad America. Some of us were unlucky enough to be born there.

It can sound like fear-mongering and disaster-bating, but when you live in the bad America, it's just plain reality.

Even the people who live in normal America are being affected, if they'd just look. No one has to take my word for it, go to a major store and you'll probably find the products are made in third world countries. Even at the really nice stores, many times. There will be consequences for this eventually. It's wealth transfer to the poorer countries from the richer countries of the world. Some of us are experiencing those realities sooner than the rest.
