Can Democratic Underground raise $10,000 in 10 days to help feed the hungry?

It's that time of year again -- time for the passionate partisans of Democratic Underground to set aside our differences and join together to do something good. I know we've been doing a fair amount of fighting amongst ourselves this year, so here's a great opportunity to bring this community together and remember our shared progressive values WHILE helping people in need.

Please take a moment to donate to Feeding America (Formerly America's Second Harvest) -- the Nation's Food Bank Network.

This year, Feeding America has created a great new tool so we can keep track of how much our members have donated, and Democratic Underground is one of the first organizations to try it. We have set a goal of raising $10,000 to help feed the hungry, and we can follow our progress in real time on our page. Just check the thermometer!

49. Hi! Just FYI, DU has been doing this for the past few years at the end of the year.

Welcome to DU :hi: Looks like you've only been here 6 months or so. For at least the past 2 years, there's been an end-of-the year charity drive for Feeding America. It may have been another charity before that, and I'm not sure what year this all started - I'm at the age where my memory can be pretty spotty!

Thanks, mods, for doing this again! Feeding America is a great organization, and even more needed in these tough times.
