The Math does not lie

We are all cheeseheads today. There were 70K people today in Madison, according to the police department. The SEIU reports quite possibly 100,000, that were there. This keeps growing.
To all Americans who have a sense of fairness and realize what is at stake Madison is indeed ground zero for the reawekening of the country. This is Shock Doctrine at it's best, and shock doctrine resistance at it's best. I am sure neither the Governnor, nor the RIGHT WING forces pulling the puppet strings, expected this level of resistance.

Truthfully this is spreading and will soon come to a town near you. And if WI serves as a guide the fascists who'd love to return us to the 1880s are truly the minority. So how many members of the Tea party were bussed in? Best numbers was 3,000...

Now I want you to compare this.

70,000 (Official PD number)

3,000 tea Party Members.

Do you see a problem here? Is it starting to make sense? Oh and to the media... stop lying. Imitating NIle TV is not going to help you. It really won't. In the age of Twitter and social media it will not help you either. That is the truth. So reporting the truth might help you better than pushing that pro-corporatist agenda you love to push.

And to the tea partiers.. wake up and smell the coffee, you got a weekend because of those unions. you got an eigh hour day because of them... living wages, you guessed it, vacation... yep... so if they manage to crush the unions, you will be the first ones to cry like little children when you realize that oh boy, where did my vacation go? You mean I got to take a 50% pay cut? I could go on... and once again, if they get it, organizing will be ilegal. Perhaps then, and only then, you will realize just how much of a tool you have been.

and methinks we are not that far from that.

That is what scares people really. That we are at one of those moments where people WILL stand for their rights. This is really, really scary.

10. Outstanding picture Nadine!!
May good things come to pass and forgive me for my doubts versus wants.

Thanks for the time and work and willingness to take on critics.

We need everyone including pols and elite to fix the mess. Ultimately, we face a problem of ecology.

PS read "A Peace to End All Peace (Fromkin)" about the ME as a historian.

13. I used worst and best numbers
and yes I think that was surprising. I went over to our evil twin, where of course they occupied one fourth of the plaza... if they did... anyhow they were surrounded.

So I was fearing violence, but I suspect they got back to their senses when they saw that. It must have been quite discouraging to realize that they were truly that much of a minority today.

I was there today...if I apply the same math used to count the teabaggers there were 420,000 union protesters and their supporters in attendance...amazing.

23. unfortunately, these numbers don't lie either
"Scott Walker Rebecca Kleefisch Republican 1,128,941 52.25%
Tom Barrett Tom Nelson Democratic 1,004,303 46.48%
Jim Langer No Candidate Independent 10,608 0.49%
James James No Candidate Common Sense 8,273 0.38%
No Candidate Terry Virgil Libertarian 6,790 0.31% "

Although for Dane County, Walker got thumped pretty bad 149,699 to 68,238

70,000 is still only 7% of the people who voted for the Toms. Will those people be able to elect more Democrats to the House and Senate in 2012?

34. remorseful Walker votes
It was not difficult to find a remorseful Walker voter yesterday. I think we were victims of low voter turnout and low information voters. Walker seemed like a good guy to some--especially those not committed to any cause---the sort of voters that are easy to win over when they recognize that causes are important and that the parties are different. Public opinion is pretty favorable right now.

25. Union protester vs teabagger mumbers. By weight/volume maybe.
Could very well be 3K of your typical teabaggers may in fact weigh as much, and take up as much room as, 70K of the Wisconsin employee protesters.

Just enough "plausible deniability for the jerkweeds at Fox News.

31. Thank you for the numbers
A report I heard gave equal weight to both sides as if the numbers were the same. I agree that both viewpoints should be aired, but it is inherently dishonest to portray the movements as if they are equal.

35. Not everything has 2 sides. But when they do...
... sometimes one side is so much bigger!

But, unfortunately, false equivalency is the bread and butter of right wing talk and MSM "controversy."

37. It's sad and more than a little ironic
that all of this passion and energy has only come out now, after Republicans are established in Congress and governor's offices all over the country. Where was all of this involvement last fall, when Democrats lost control of the House, and of state governments? It's certainly not as if what Republicans are doing, now that they've taken over all of these offices, is any surprise. They're doing exactly what they said they would do. It makes me wonder how many people out there protesting and how many here supporting the protesters voted for every Democrat in sight last November, and supported Democratic candidates and causes with the same fervor that they did in 2008. How many, because of slights and disappointments from Democrats, either real or imagined, stayed home from the polls or withheld their support in other ways? Why are they only now realizing that the alternative was and is far, far worse, and that this is about the long term good of the country and not their personal little agendas?
