FBI Assembling a Data Base on Americans, according to report

Mon Dec 20, 10:05 am ET
5 revelations from the Post’s ‘Monitoring America’ investigation
By Liz Goodwin liz Goodwin – Mon Dec 20, 10:05 am ET

The FBI is assembling a massive database on thousands of Americans, many of whom have not been accused of any crime, the Washington Post's Dana Priest and William Arkin report. The reporters' latest look at the country's ballooning national security system focuses on the role that local agencies -- often staffed by people with little to no counter-terrorism training -- have played in combating terrorism since 2001.

1. As it collapses the Empire
inevitably turns in upon itself, i.e., its own people. That's why you are going to see a lot of claptrap about "domestic" terrorism. It is simply a reframing of a Fascist attitude.

4. Gotta keep people scared somehow
Even if it takes the framing of 19-year-olds to do it. How low will the FBI go? If past performance is any indication of future results, pretty goddam low.

9. It sounds like you're saying you don't feel safe
in the US or Canada. Peace and light to you and yours.

10. Wow. That's the most paranoid, delusional thing I've read in quite awhile.
At least since the last thread on chemtrails.

11. Either you're a total paranoid or you know something we don't.
In any case we don't have long to wait to find out. From being Israel's friend and ally to cutting all ties within a year sounds like such a complete and total reversal I can hardly imagine it.

I notice this is your first post. Welcome to DU...if you're for real. You sound sincere and convinced of what you're saying, but part of is hoping you're a troll--for obvious reasons.

8. As Glenn Greenwald said today:
"it's government officials who are supposed to operate out in the open, while ordinary citizens are entitled to privacy. "

12. This is far more than FBI, and since the focus is on "non-criminal activity" why not just call it
Edited on Tue Dec-21-10 01:13 PM by bobthedrummer
the Thought Police? Some of this sounds alot like the repackaging of the various illegal BUSH/CHENEY administration's post-9/11 "national security programs" by the Obama administration (for but one example I recall former Deputy Director of Defense Paul Wolfowitz's 2002 USAF intelligence based TALON/Threat And Local Observation Notice).

Of course things have changed-today's USAF doesn't allow it's members to access dozens of press organizations like The New York Times that have published WikiLeaks releases as detailed in the recent Stars and Stripes article by Kevin Baron below

http://www.stripes.com/news/air-force-bans-access-to-sites-of-newspapers-posting-wikileaks-documents-1.128862
--isn't that a fine job of keeping all of US safe in body and in mind!

Since all these "reports" of "non-criminal activity" are going out to, at a minimum, the 72 US based "intelligence fusion centers" (whatever they are) and God only knows where else it's important to remember that this now includes Walmart and other retail stores and property-then the private intelligence contractors and sub-contractors employed by the US intelligence community for their expertise can do their thing (whatever that is).

The ACLU issued a news release on June 29, 2010 about some of its concerns
New ACLU Report And Web Hub Reveal Rise In Political Spying Across United States

There is quite a history of eliminating US political dissidents, I am a survivor of some of that from 40 years ago as are other domestic black-ops "veterans". Andy Dunn wrote a bit about some of what I & others experienced, as well as then current BUSH/CHENEY crimes against the people, back in March 2006

Political Research Associates/Public Eye reported on these "massive data-bases" earlier (3-5) this year too

Call it what you want, it's well established and growing-this New American Century.

14. This is part of the giant, public-private 'intelligence industry'
cropping up in No.Va...

There are so many intelligence and information gathering firms competing for DHS contracts, and they all have to prove they are better or sneakier than the others....

16. kick + repost of The Pike Committee (started 3-11-08)-the reforms called for by Otis Pike were never
implemented, in fact the full report of this post-Watergate House investigation is still classified!

As a direct result of the lack of serious reforms called for by both the Senate and the House (because of the exposure of the Watergate scandal) during that brief window of opportunity we have all these politicized "non-criminal activities" dossiers flourishing as well as burgeoning black-ops to eliminate dissident US citizens and groups--much worse than COINTELPRO's, OPERATION CHAOS, and what used to be the realm of the local law enforcement Red Squad. This is not a democracy at all.
