12. Gaddafi fancies himself a socialist.
He overthrew a monarchy for what he termed Islamic Socialism. Of course that was 42 years ago. More recently he crowned himself King of Kings of Africa.

17. I live in Venezuela, and my opinion of Hugo is pretty low
I sure hope Khadaffi comes here. The world needs to realize Mr Chavez is more like Emperor Caligula than the good guy they think he is.

11. Has the military (police?) been called off? Have they ceased
killing the citizens?

This is really something! If it's accurate and if he's "stepping down" -- my God. If the people can get Gaddafi to yell Uncle, this will be further incentive and encouragement for others in other countries to keep up the fight!

I'm on pins and needles. :scared:

a Libyan regular army brigade overran one of their compounds in Benghazi, and at least there the mercs are finished.

24. The GOOD thing is...
...that when word gets out that he's gone, the violence and bloodshed will subside. The loyalists and the mercs will have no reason to go on.
