Jimmy John’s workers this holiday season are calling on the owners of the national sandwich shop to stop scrooging its workers on holiday pay. Workers are asking customers to sign holiday cards calling on the owners of Jimmy John’s shops to open their hearts and their wallets for workers who must work Christmas Eve, New Year’s Day and other holidays. It’s the first national fast-food campaign for holiday pay. Back in October Minneapolis Jimmy John’s workers came within two votes of winning a union election. The Industrial Workers of the World filed a legal challenge to the election results. Most Jimmy John’s workers are paid minimum age, even when working holidays. Jimmy John’s workers will carry their campaign for unionization and better pay and working conditions into the New Year with a “Ten Point Program For Justice At Jimmy John’s”.
