Solidarity in Raleigh today (pictures)

i went to the capital in NC today to join the rally in support of the Wisconsin demonstrators.



it was a small crowd, but happily still at least 3 to 5 times the size of the teabaggers across the street.



however they were very rude and very loud and contemptuous as is their wont.



our side did have a bullhorn which was almost but not quite enough to drown out the hate blasting from the other side of the street.

the following pictures are almost all of the signs that were there!








this guy had this sign and the next and i took this while it was upside down.

there's a couple more but i'll stop with this one. democrats are great people. i'm really glad i went though i would have loved to see several thousand more there.

but a lot of parents are angry at schools being closed.

and the damn weather isn't helping. :(

It's hard to maintain the intensity, you know? At some point people have lives they have to take care of - jobs and bills and laundry and kids and classes and just - stuff - BUT - so many are so impassioned!

It's just - hard.

Trying to keep a job and pay the bills. Trying to make sure kids are taken care of (especially true of our teachers, you know?)

i know i do. i could not have made it out there today if we didn't have the holiday, i would have been at work. :(

i really don't want to see the republicans get away with it. it just sucks, not just what they're doing but the underhanded, dishonest way they're doing it.

I'm in Charlotte, plus had to work, so I couldn't go. What time was the rally? I remember when I was looking at the list that a lot of them were scheduled during first shift working hours, and that might help explain the lack of people.
