Upsized fries a joke, says student

If you want to go "large", beware - upsizing your fries in fast-food restaurants does not guarantee you much for your extra money.

University student and McDonald's regular Allen Hsu wanted to find out if he was getting value for money when he up-sized his medium McDonald's combo to the large size after he became concerned at the similarity between the two sizes.

The 18-year-old counted the number of french fries in three packs of medium McDonald's fries and three packs of large fries and found his initial suspicions proved right - there were only 14 more french fries in a large size of McDonald's fries compared with the medium size.

Mr Hsu also found one pack of large fries had only one more chip than one of the medium servings.

1. I am SO pissed off! Only 1 ounce more of inedible shit for $0.25?
I wanted at least 2 more ounces of indigestible crap that will eventually kill me.

3. Eventially? High doses of fat and carb will kill quite quickly. But hey, let them
enjoy the larger portion. :)

2. Mcdonalds fries
years ago a friend and ordered a big mac and fries, one of us got the large fries, which came in the box, and the other got the small fries, which came in a paper pouch. one or the other of us said I wonder which of us got the most fries, so we poured the fries on an unfolded napkin and put the large fries in the small fries pouch and vice versa and guess what the small fries had more fries. We periodically checked that at different mcD's and it was always the same. I think they still use the same containers now as they did then and if so it could be checked out pretty easily. I don't stop at mcD's anymore much so who knows maybe some one finally figured it out. I guess on paper the numbers don't matter much as they take a few cents of potato and turn it into a sizable profit anyway.

4. It might depend on the franchise
When I used to eat McDonalds (I avoid the place like a plague now), I found them packing the large size to the brim. A huge number of fries. When I did my withdrawal (and it is a withdrawal) I would get the small size - it only inflamed my taste for more. When I ate the large size, not only was I satisfied I was actually sick of looking at french fries.

Watch Supersize Me - we are talking about a lot of food (well maybe not exactly food) here.

Lots of brown rice, oat meal, beans, lentils, and tasty fruits and vegetables for me now. I feel alot better now. My wife pointed out the oatmeal option at McDonalds now. I said no thank you. With $.25 of oatmeal, a banana, cinnamon, and a splash of almond milk I have a very satisfying healthy breakfast. Not something loaded to the gills with sugar, food starch, salt, and plenty of other chemicals.

5. It's been so long since I stopped at a McDonald's.....

...I truly cannot remember when it was. There is absolutely nothing on their menu I would ingest. But, that goes for all fast-food restaurants....I don't use em. I rarely even eat out, anymore. I can eat at home, much cheaper, and much healthier. Since I live rurally, just the trip to town would increase the cost of eating out by 50% if you figure in gas and mileage. So, I enjoy eating the occasional lobster or king crab legs at home with the savings.
