2. Good! That's right, come out of the woodwork
Bring it on assholes! They want to fuck with the bull, let's make this a national referendum. I'm ready to fight for my union brothers and sisters whenever they need me. Sick of being sh*t on for being a public servant. Do they think they outnumber us??? They are waking a sleeping giant!

4. I am sure that if we dig
we can find a link to Club for Growth (Koch), CATO (Koch) or any of the other organizations in the hydra.

13. Doesn't take a lot of digging -- you hit it with Cato
"Lanny Ebenstein, UC Santa Barbara economist, head of the California Center for Public Policy and president of the Santa Barbara County Taxpayers Association is named in the state filing as the reform group's treasurer."

http://www.cato.org/people/alan-ebenstein

Lanny Ebenstein
Adjunct Scholar

Lanny Ebenstein, adjunct scholar, is the author of Friedrich Hayek: A Biography, the first English language biography of Hayek, and Hayek's Journey: The Mind of Friedrich Hayek. His most recent book is Milton Friedman: A Biography. He is a visiting professor at the University of California at Santa Barbara. Ebenstein received his Ph.D. from the London School of Economics.

16. Friedrich Hayek was Milton Friedman's mentor,
and both names (Hayek's and Friedman's) are familiar to me from The Shock Doctrine. And thanks to Naomi Klein, both are forever linked with the name Pinochet, with everything that implies.

5. These "groups" are just one product of those Koch sponsored "strategy" retreats...
Edited on Tue Feb-22-11 06:56 PM by Melinda
Keith Olbermann had a segment last year on the Palm Springs Koch Bros retreat: http://www.americablog.com/2010/10/taibbi-on-infrastructure-that-supports.htm">"Understanding and addressing threats to American free enterprise and prosperity" - enjoy.

6. Brown has already -
said that is off the table for his administration. Of course, they could go the Proposition route amd try to go around State government.

7. That's what is planned. And given our fucked-up inititative process in Cali...
It will probably make it to the ballot. And we'll have to work like hell to defeat it since the well-funded lies will be flowing on tv, 24/7.

12. Same here. Whenever I see someone outside a store with a petition...
I first ask them how much they're getting paid. Then I ask them if they actually understand the damn petitions for which they're gathering signatures. Since I started doing that a couple years back, I haven't received enough satisfactory answers to justify my signing ANY petitions.

17. I assumed it would be a ballot initiative--that's SOP for California.
I used to collect signatures for ballot initiative petitions when I was hard up for money. But hat's one I'd flat-out refuse to circulate no matter how desperate I was.

8. These groups are like roaches.
If I ever win powerball I'm starting my own disgustingly well-funded think tank. I'll call it something subtle like the Union Death Star Think Tank of Pain. Then I'll blanket the media. Well, a girl can dream.

11. Well, good thinking there.
I'll add that to the action plan. Should I cater meals? Sky is the limit here.
