Some of us have spoken of inverted totalitarism... and this is where you will find it explained to the nth degree. It is a somewhat depressing read, but truth be told the first step in fixing something is understating it. This falls in the most read category, as what we face is quite unique, but Fascist. And no, it does not mean that jack booted thugs are walking all over the place, though the secret files ARE growing.

So no, we are not out of the woods, not at all. And to those who think this is the kind of change we can believe in, well at this point not really.

I have no idea what it will take, but we are at the really dysfunctional stage, where voting is just window dressing.

To repeat, I highly recommend that read. And perhaps "True Believer" should be added to reading lists as well.

Tonight is a nice night to read... even if it is a depressingly complex read.

1. Read "Bloodlands" by Timothy Snyder (new this year).
It tells what happened in places like the Soviet Ukraine and Byelorussia from 1930 to 1945. A good section of Eastern Europe in fact, including Poland and the Baltics. You think this is a tough time. How about living where you are occupied alternately by the NKVD and the SS? That section of the world lost 14 million people including Holocaust victims. I The book cannot be too highly recommended.

2. Family history
dad was on the Hitler travel plan.

He spent 18 months under ground, hiding from the SS, eating potato peelings.
