Most of the AM radio hosts in Chicago have gone over to the dark side
Edited on Wed Feb-23-11 09:54 PM by Peregrine Took
except for the progressive station (820AM) regarding the Wisconsin demonstrations.

Very discouraging.

I'm thinking they come from traditional families with dad as the authoritarian figure. They can't accept anything that seems out of order/control - too scary and intimidating. "A place for everything (worker at work) and everything in its place."

I try to email the ones that aren't totally black hearted against us to see if I can bring them over but this one seems too far out there.

1. I only bother listening to 820 and public radio when I'm in the
Chicago area. I guess I can pretty much say that for any area I'm in, for the most part!

2. That is interesting to know.
details of that sort are unknown to most people unless they live in the area.
Wonder how wide spread it is.
( We have lousy radio reception where I live, but most media here is Republican controlled).

4. There are like 2 AM radio hosts I can think of that *might* be supportive:
Roeper on WLS and John Williams on WGN (maybe a couple of the weekend guys, too). Can't think of any others with potential to think for themselves without mostly considering their corp masters.

I remember much better days.

5. 820AM is our only progressive station
Yet they still have to shove Mary Matalin in there on Sundays along with Arianna Huffington who agrees with Matlin quite often. Even if it's only an hour, I don't want to hear her on our progressive station. The reception after 8pm sucks on the AM side.

6. Matalin is a reminder of how cheerfully wretched a human being can be.
Cheney's right-hand asswipe. Feh! Who needs it?

7. WIND Is Owned By Salem...
They're the Koch Brothers of hate radio...

WLS went to the dark side a decade ago when Mike Malloy and Jay Marvin were busted out.

I also listen to 820 but wish there was more local content.

Remember, the only real audience left listening to AM radio are angry old white guys...anyone with class moved to the Internet and public broadcasting years ago.
