Glenn Beck apologizes for Reform Judaism remarks. ‘I was wrong on this and I apologize for it’

On the radio this morning, Glenn Beck lead his show with an apology for comments he made Tuesday about rabbis of Reform Judaism. “It’s almost like Islam … radicalized Islam in a way,” said Beck. “Radicalized Islam is less about religion than it is about politics. When you look at the Reform Judaism, it is more about politics.”

Beck called it one of the “worst analogies of all time.”

“I was wrong on this … and I apologize for it,” said Beck. “In this case I did not do enough homework.”

“Somebody has called me ignorant for what I said on Tuesday, and I think that’s a pretty good description of what I said.”

Meanwhile, on the website of the conservative monthly magazine, Commentary, Peter Wehner writes today that Beck is “the most disturbing personality on cable television” and that’s “taking into account the entire MSNBC lineup.”

9. I'll give him credit for apologizing

It's wrong to criticize somebody for making an egregious, anti-semitic, obscence comment AND then not give him credit for apologizing imnsho.

It doesn't take away from the fact that he is an asshat, a moron, and an incendiary dipshit. But his act of apologizing is a good act. I can give him credit for a good act, while still believing that he's a fucking dipshit. His apology does not clear him from responsibility for what he said, he's still responsible for it. But given that he said it, it's better that he apologized than if he didn't. It may also make the beckheads consider that their "guru" is fallible, which I am sure some people doubt in their worship of him.

This time the message was crafted to delegitimize/despiritualize moderate Jews. Why? Why does Beck have such a specific beef? Of all people, why the hell would an American political commentator grab the third rail like that? Because he thought he could get away with it.

Roll around in your head how he might get such an idea. Think, What other people, specifically, want to deligitimize/despiritualize Reform Jews? Of all people, why Reform Jews, specifically?

for risking the few advertisers he has left. Beck NEVER does his homework, is ignorant and wrong on a daily basis, and has never felt the need to apologize in the past. Perhaps the hemorrhaging of advertisers has accelerated?
