Tea Party Nation Founder: Let's Get Rid Of The 'Socialist' Methodist Church

Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips has a dream: "No more Methodist Church."

A blog post on his Tea Party Nation page says that on Friday he walked by the United Methodist Building in Washington D.C., which had a sign that said, "Pass the DREAM Act." Phillips wrote: " I have a DREAM. That is, no more United Methodist Church

1. These baggies are getting tiresome.
I could make a few suggestions as to the disposal, but I would get tombstoned. Also under a good bit of stress, I have to go to 2 funerals in WV this week and some relatives are fauxnoisers..

3. Amish, Mennonites, Quakers, Unitarians…
any of those Godless people who stand in the way of True Christianity.

17. Indeed, indeed. The Quakers too.
They haven't gotten around to burnings at the stake yet, though. Just the occasional church shooting.

5. Wait 'til they get a look at the Episcopal Church
Their tiny heads will explode. :nuke: For poor-loving, justice-striving, peace-pushing socialism, we make the Methodists look like pikers.

(Kidding, Methodists...you're great.)

9. Or the United Church of Christ
They were the first mainstream denomination to endorse Gay marriage. And remember a few years ago when they ran ads making it clear everyone was welcome?

Yikes!

18. Not all Episcopal Churches were created equal.
There seems to be a very reactionary strain, and isn't the church coming apart over issues like women priests?

23. Yes, on the first
We're about 66 to 33% on gay issues, sadly. However, the 66% is standing firm for justice.

On the second, nope. :) A woman runs the church. Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts-Schorri.

If you're referring to the international church, that's probably Anglican (the larger group that includes the American Episcopal church). However, even there, Bishop Tutu is one of ours.

12. He's an idiot.
The Methodists also have conservative positions. Because they disagree with him on this they are Satan's Spawn. Hmmm....such absolutist self-absorbed thinking. Where in the world have we seen that before?

14. First they will come for the Methodists, then they will come for the Baptists,
then they will come for the Lutherans and when they come for the rest there will not be enough left to stand up to them.

I'm gonna go there again, they are goats.

^snip^

31When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

21. Methodists tend to be more open minded than a lot of Christian denominations
but to call them all "liberals" is kind of a stretch in my experience...Most I know are centrists but I guess anyone who is not a hardcore right wing fascist is a liberal to them.
