Bacon, anyone? Airline serves pork on flight from Israel
EasyJet has apologized to Jewish passengers after serving only pork products on a recent flight from Tel Aviv to London, the Daily Mail reports.

Some travelers went without food for the 4 1/2-hour flight, refusing the ham melts and bacon baguettes offered after wrong meals were loaded onto the plane.

In the Jewish faith, consumption of pork is forbidden.

Passenger Victor Kaufman, 25, told the Sun newspaper that the airline had been "a little insensitive."

Not the greatest airline, but pretty damn cheap. At least they didn't lose our luggage like Italian airline did.

you can have a flight from hell on any airline. Mine, for instance, came on the much-lauded Air France.

22. Try Ryan Air--they are a LOT worse
as for EasyJet, their bag weight limits are about in line with the US airlines, and they let you carry on as much as you want, as long as you can lift it.

37. TFA says it was loaded by mistake. Mistakes happen.
A 4-hour flight without the food of your choice is not the end of the world. And keeping kosher is *very much* a choice.

Overenthusiastic mods: you should re-think deleting posts that do not violate any DU rule. After all, perhaps an imaginary sky fairy will smite you for your misplaced zeal!

Were the outdoor wing seats filled?

The meals were probably left over from a previous flight so their cheapfuck CEO just said to keep them on board.

EasyJet sucks.

35. 4 1/2 hours in the air = 6 1/2 to 8 1/2 traveling. That is a long day with no food.
SFO asks that travelers arrive 1 - 1 1/2 hours before domestic flight departure. It takes 40-45 minutes to get to the airport. So even before the plane takes off, I've added at least 2 hours to my travel time. Then, after landing, there's luggage pick-up and the travel to your destination. Most every time I've flown, it has taken a minimum of 1 1/2 to collect my luggage and get to my destination.

36. Have you ever slept 8 hours in the same night? Few, if any, die of starvation in that time.
Edited on Fri Feb-25-11 07:16 AM by Obamanaut
Did you go to bed hungry? Did you have b'fast shortly after you got up? Please spare us the tales of food deprivation caused by air travel.

Even the 'lengthy' fast of 8 1/2 hours little more than a good night's sleep.

If they were really hungry, they could have just ate the food. Nothing bad would have happened.

46. +1...
If taken to it's ridiculous extension, it's kind of the opposite of the old "no atheists in foxholes" myth.

Would the religious die of starvation if food prohibited by their religion was the only thing available?

55. I should have disclosed I strongly suspect people don't choose their religious
beliefs. I don't think they could have used their free will and just decide their pork beliefs were no longer valid until the flight was over. I was trying to point that out with my reply.

I don't think I could choose to believe in their god anymore than they can choose to not believe in their god. Many people change their faiths over time, but I really doubt it's a choice. I suspect faith is something that happens to us; a byproduct of living together. I am not completely sure about this, but it is my current feeling towards the subject.

47. No airline should have to cater to
Bronze-Age mythology. Prohibiting eating pork is a silly, absurd myth. Should we also cater to the desires of all of the tens of thousands of "gods" that have existed in human history? Maybe the airline should force women to wear burqas so as to not offend the Muslims.
