Our Soon To be Governor Rick Scott's dream CUTs
for our not so sunshine state.

TALLAHASSEE — Shut down A.G. Holley Hospital in Lantana. Privatize Florida's three state mental health hospitals. Combine the departments of transportation, community affairs and environmental protection.

Those are among the recommendations Gov.-elect Rick Scott's health and human services and regulatory reform transition teams made public Monday after Scott met with his advisers on the first day of a three-day briefing.

Scott, who takes office on Jan. 4, will hear the findings and suggestions from his nearly 200 transition team members through Wednesday in Fort Lauderdale.

Suggestions from Scott's health and human services team, headed by former Florida Agency for Health Care Administration Secretary Alan Levine, included closing A.G. Holley Hospital, the nation's only tuberculosis hospital, and relocating its patients.

Other recommendations in the 68-page briefing include merging the Department of Health and the Agency for Health Care Administration; severely restricting the services county health departments provide; and privatizing the state's mental hospitals for the criminally insane.

2. Privatize the mental hospitals - what could go wrong?
After all, the mentally ill and criminally insane are a profit center that has been badly neglected for centuries. There are fortunes, fortunes!, to be made in caring for the mentally ill. It takes a man of uncommon vision to bring this dream to reality. And what could go wrong? Top flight, cadillac care for certifiably mentally ill people. Reports of fraud, waste and abuse a thing of the past. Excellent choice, voters of Florida.

Note to self: You'd have to be crazy to go crazy in Florida.

4. Believe it
But maybe it'll take people dying to make voters finally realize that they are stupid, and should really take a long walk off a short cliff!

13. Examine voter fraud?
You mean examine election fraud, right?

Well, I hear that it is against the law in Florida to do an examination of election fraud.
Otherwise Gore could have been president. Couldn't have that, so they outlawed that possibility.

16. I was ready to go
and volunteer for Grayson :(

I'll still come because my family tribe is migrating there, but I'm going to wait for the repugudust to settle for awhile and see what happens...

and who knows - Alan Grayson may still yet need some volunteers!

12. Well, Florida obviously doesn't need hospitals for the criminally insane:

instead you put them in the state legislature and the governor's mansion.

;-)

And I ought to know, because we do the same here in Texas.

14. Florida is in dire straits now as it is.

Four years from now there will be nothing but dust and rubble. And the Florida
rethuglicans will be pointing fingers at everyone but themselves, as usual.

Scott is a shameless crook and he couldn't even manage a lemonade stand.

15. My guess is that there are going to be a lot of snow birds who stay
home in their northern states. Do they vote down there?
