I want to write a rebuttal to an LTTE, any suggestions
This :sarcasm: charming :sarcasm: letter to the editor was in the local paper Monday morning.

Maid Marian asked Robin Hood, "How come we only steal from rich?" Robin Hood said to Friar Tuck, "See, why we don't have more women in upper management?"

Actually, Maid Marian was the only one of the merry band who understood that all theft is wrong. So before we buy into the Robin Hood philosophy advocated by Sen. Tom Harkin and other venal politicians, remember this:

We may drag ourselves out of bed and shuffle off to a job we don't like, and do without things just to get by, but to the folks who cannot (or choose not to) find work, we are the rich, selfish, greedy elite who need to pay more of our "fair share."

As one of the talking heads on PBS said three weeks ago, "We have to raise taxes on the upper brackets now, or the middle class won't stand for it when we raise theirs."

I want to write a nice rebuttal to this jerk, so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? Something that'll really make the right wing go nuts.

1. Didn't the Rich steal from the poor first?
They taxed the poor to support the life styles of the rich.

Without the poor to do the work and pay the taxes there would be no rich

Robin Hood was just re-re distributing the wealth.

2. My suggestion would be that it's too stupid & contentless to rebut.
Instead, why don't you just write a letter with some facts:

- about the distribution of wealth in the country

- about the fact that laws/regulations greatly affect the distribution of wealth, & the more wealth is concentrated, the more the rich have the power to buy the laws they want

- about the fact that most legislators are millionaires, & campaign finance is a system of legalized bribery (on both sides)

- about the fact that when wealth was distributed more equitably, by regulation & taxation, the country was a world leader with an optimistic & forward-looking population, but now is becoming a third-rate power with a growing class of poor

- about the fact that 10 years of tax cuts & the lowest tax rates since the 20s produced 10% unemployment & a financial meltdown

- about the fact that cute little stories about imaginary people are no excuse for real analysis

etc.

for facts & figures, bernie sanders' recent speech has lots of material to mine.

my two cents.
