I have been posting against the creeping fascism that is the whole point of agencies such as TSA and their ilk. The refrain that is the headline of this post is being heard more commonly.
I predict that if we hear this much longer, the next thing we will see is increased surveillance of our citizens. Just this past Monday, the Washington Metro started rousting and sniffing random system riders.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x53423I have predicted Xray portals at malls before you are allowed to shop. We already tolerate drunk driving checkpoints, where everyone driving on some chosen road will be stopped by the cops and questioned, with the cops looking for signs that you've tippled a tipple too far. And then bust your sorry, fucking ass. Handcuffs and mug shots, fingerprints and surrender of your belongings and removal of your belt and shoelaces. Fuck you, asshole; into the tank with you.
You and I both know that, in the extreme, this sort of activity leads to celebrations like Kristalnacht. More likely, it will lead to our being required to carry and show on demand a national ID card. The card itself isn't so bad, I don't think. The random demand to show it creeps me out. Yet, I fear that's what's coming. In the thread cited above, a responder opined that metal detectors would grace all mall entrances by next Christmas. I do not find that a far fetched statement.
"The biggest threat now is from home grown terrorists"
I see that as a scripted meme that is being pressed to the fore in the public square. It is not an observation so much as it is a step along a carefully crafted path to riches for some and increased control of the sheeple for others.
For NONE of us is it a good thing.
"The biggest threat now is from home grown terrorists"
And they can be found on the executive floor. Eating lobster for lunch.
