If some republican calls you a tax and spend liberal....
Shoot back that it sure is better than borrow and spend republicans.

At least the dem's pay for their spending while the GOP loves to shove the costs of their spending to future generations.

1. Respond with "it's better than being a credit card conservative"
I also call conservatives "CON-servatives, as in Con-artist conservatives".

In the same spirit, you can call the Republicans, Red Ink Republicans for their budget busting con games, like keeping the cost of the wars off budget.

2. I say, "Yes, I believe in spending only the money I have."
Tax and spend is another way of saying "Pay as you go and leave no debt behind."

4. Many ways to say the same thing....
It's just that not one of our "spokespersons" ever really calls the GOP on it...

5. The Dems USED to pay for their spending
nowadays, not so much. I'm not sure there is a dime's worth of difference anymore between the 2 parties as far as deficit spending goes.

6. I tell them, 'It's called 'PAYGO''
Democrats believe in pay as you go. Republicans renamed financial responsibility, 'tax and spend,' as if paying for what you spend is a bad thing.

I also tell them that nearly 100% of our national debt is from Republican policies.

7. "If I remember correctly, Bill Clinton left office with a $236 billion surplus."
Edited on Tue Dec-14-10 10:00 AM by pacalo
"It was a Republican president who started two costly wars, then cut taxes at the same time. He left office with a $1.3 trillion deficit, with projected shortfalls of $8 trillion for the next decade."
