Lame duck congress not so lame... So why did they wait until now?

It seems clear that if there is any single thing that the American voters voted for, it was for an end to the get-nothing-done, business as usual BS in Congress.

So why did they wait until the last minute?

3. So Republicans would get seats in election is most logical answer.

They were on a leach either by media or something else on many issues.

Once the 'rich' were given billions, they allowed them to pass social issues that they either agree with, or don't care about.

Theater mostly. They could have blown the Republicans out in the election if they had argued, and voted for what the people wanted.

There are many that did, and the side effects of advances in civil rights, and other issues is good, but the issue of consolidations still creates many problems that need correcting.



And of coarse, I am still due beer and travel money, which has also been ignored.

4. The republicans blocked everything they possibly could, and the last few weeks

were just amazing - Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and President Obama did a great job of geting things through, and deserve credit for this.
The reason this all stalled till now is that the GOP wanted to discredit Obama - they put political points ahead of any good for the American people, which is republican politics as usual.

I believe the R's were bested in the last couple of weeks; even though I think that giving the wealthy more cas has ludicrous, I also think that little nugget will come back to bite them in the ass over the long run. For the record, there are a few things that will bite R's in the ass...stalling on 9-11 First Responders as well as the huge tax cuts for the wealthy will be two major things used against them, the key is to keep painting them as the pieces of crap they are.

7. For those on the way out, it was easier to cast those votes

For many of those coming back in January, if they had cast those votes before November, they might not be coming back.

I know the issues passed were popular here, but such is not the case with every Congressional district out there,
