Woodland woman begs PG&E to save her life
Woodland woman begs PG&E to save her life

WOODLAND, CA -- For more than two weeks Gail Garcia has been living without power in Yolo County, but barely.

Garcia was recently hospitalized with respiratory failure due to emphysema and asthma. She now requires an oxygen condenser to filter pure oxygen to her lungs 24 hours a day.

That machine plugs into the wall outlet like most home appliances, but, it won't work when the power is not on.

Pacific Gas and Electric shut off the power to her Woodland apartment for non-payment. What the utility company didn't know is the past amount due was actually owed by a previous tenant.

"I've called them probably 12 times, and each time they've told me the same thing no matter who I get," said Garcia. 'They pass the buck onto somebody else."

Garcia begged the company to turn her power back on, even reminding them of the life support notation in her account notes. But after more than two weeks, nothing was resolved.

...

After reviewing Garcia's statements, News10 contacted PG&E which was quick to respond to the problem.

Less than five hours after the call, Garcia's power was restored.

2. Interesting.
The first word that came to my mind was 'mutherfuckers!"

Glad she got the juice back on though.

5. News 10 saved my Little League Team
In Lincoln Ca.

The City Softball League threaten to lock us out off the field. The softball league coordinator worked for the city parks and rec department.

I cut the lock to the playing field and took to the field with 3 teams of 13 - 15 year old little league kids with News 10 filming the whole thing. Finally 1 of the members of the City Council came out and claimed the whole thing was a misunderstanding

4. As much as I like to bash
the propaganda laden media, good for local outlets that advocate for the powerless (no pun intended) and get things done where individuals can't do it on their own.

6. local is usually different than national
on just about everything. People who work for local stations are looking for a story with a local angle. They're usually hard to come by if it isn't a fire, car wreck or murder.

7. Don't worry, soon it will be illegal for the media to assist due to liability...
All it takes is one lawsuit and the "Seven on Your Side" stories will, to quote a certain fictional warden, vanish like a fart in the wind.
