Sendai is known as the city of trees. Too sad - it's now a watery grave.

5. 2nd photo is the Sendai Mediatheque, a very innovated building
one of my architect husband's favorite buildings. :( I dread the after photos.

8. Sendai has been a "sister" city to Riverside CA since 1957. We will have some kind of aid
package set up this coming week.

9. I miss Japan. The pic with pagoda and iris is very reminiscent to me of the
emperor's iris gardens in Tokyo (c 1965).

i love the blend of ancient and modern architecture. It's so sad to imagine the state of those buildings, and the peope who live in that city, right now.
