Why haven't you signed the motion to amend?

The preeminent issue of the day is the corrosive effect of Citizens United v. FEC on our democracy.

90% of what you hate about the contemporary United States can be traced back to the takeover of the Republic by corporations, even prior to the Citizens decision:

• You see it all over wikileaks
• You see it in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, etc.
• You see it in the healthcare debate.
• You see it in the bonus tax breaks "compromise".
• You see it on Wall Street.
• You see it in the net neutrality and the NBC-Comcast merger.
• You see it on your kitchen table, right there on you plate.

Every cause you care about - every battle you wage - will become increasingly difficult and your voice will become further marginalized if we don't put an end to corporate personhood and amend the constitution to provide for publicly financed elections.

Victories like the DADT repeal are nice, but it's always going to be one step forward and two steps back as long as those who pay for the elections call the shots. It's beyond the (D) or (R) behind a person's name on the TV machine.

It won't happen overnight. It's a multi-year process, but it begins with one step. Please sign the motion. Get involved. Start questioning your representatives and senators, both state and federal about their support for the amendment.

Every other battle is a game of whack-a-mole until we cure the infection at the core.
