Former Reagan operative on Palin: "I'm not overly enamored with her...she's not electable"

Sig Rogich, a Republican operative widely seen as influential and who worked on former President Ronald Reagan's 1984 reelection campaign, took aim at Sarah Palin's qualifications to run for the White House in the next election cycle.

"I'm not overly enamored with ," he told the Nevada News Bureau on Monday. "As a candidate nationwide I don't think she is electable for a presidency, and I think that over time you will see reasons why."

Rogich suggested that big GOP names, such as Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, could be better Republican party picks to make a 2012 presidential run. Both men, as well as Palin, are rumored to be considering vying for a chance to run against President Obama.

The critical comments made by Rogich on the prospect of Palin mounting a White House run aren't the first shots he's taken at the former Alaska governor. A longtime ally of Arizona Sen. John McCain, Rogich took aim at Palin's impact on the Republican lawmaker's failed presidential bid against Obama on the heels of the 2008 election.

2. Well, that's the scary part.
If she pulls in a really high percentage of the idiot vote, she'll have a supermajority of Americans behind her and there's no stopping her.

3. It's a matter of how successfully she can "fan the flames of discontent."
It should be evident to all by now that she never approaches any subject from the positive, only the negative. She also doesn;t offer any real, workable solutions, only sarcasm and snark and attacks and George W. Bush-style "bring it on, wanted dead or alive" swagger.

But people respond to that crap.

So I would love to think that Barack Obama is going to shock the living hell out of everyone, re-energize the "base" that elected him, and shoot pure arrows of love into the hearts of every Mr. & Mrs. Johnny Lunchpail who will be voting in 2012.

That's what I'd love to think.

We'll have to wait and see what actually happens.

4. Oh, Mr. Rogich
You know as well as I do that Sarah Palin isn't going to be running for president, except maybe for the briefest of moments leading up to Iowa or New Hampshire. She's doing exactly what your pals in the party and on the teevee want her to do: Discomfit the liberals and flash Republican gang signs for those in the know. But Barbour and Huckabee, Mr. Rogich? Really? Obama will cream both of those dimwits with one hand tied behind his back.
