I hate Newt, the dumbass, Gangrinch - more reasons to not like him:
As Newt Gingrich toys with the idea of a 2012 presidential run, he's opened to a worn page in his political playbook --- targeting the unemployed.

...

Instead of wasting money "paying people to do nothing for 99 weeks," he said he would make job training mandatory for anyone getting an unemployment check.

...

"You have the 99ers. Have you heard of the 99ers? Oh, there they are. The democratic socialists of America. The 99ers," Fox News talk show host Glen Beck said in August. "These people, some of which, frankly, I bet you'd be ashamed to call them Americans… Two years is plenty of time to have lived off your neighbor's wallet."

As conservatives look to 2012, many other Republicans have also used the long-term unemployed as a target of their attacks.

But as unemployment nears 10 percent, many job seekers resent being characterized as lazy, and many Democratic lawmakers have come to their defense.

1. There really isn't much to like about Newt
He represents a good example of the worst of the species, in my opinion.

2. Since they can't use the 'Gay Agenda' wedge issue anymore
They have to use another defenseless group. Now it's the '99er Agenda' since they come in so handy. Imagine that. Running for President on a persecuting the people in need platform. This might be a first. A Presidential Campaign based on destruction of a segment of the population. It sounds too close to Fascist Nazi ideology for me.

3. What's really difficult is finding any reason -- any at all -- to like that ass,
even a little. I hated his guts in the '90s (remember when he had his little hissy fit about sitting in the back of AF1?) and I can't think of any reason to stop now. He's the same vicious, pompous, arrogant prick he always was. A guy who'd serve his wife with divorce papers while she's in the hospital suffering from cancer is about as poor an excuse for a human being as I can think of.

BTW, if he wants all unemployed people to get job training, who's going to pay for that? I'm sure a lot of those people would welcome some training that would help them find work, but if we "can't afford" unemployment compensation, can we "afford" sending all the unemployed people back to school? My guess is Newt would have them take out loans so they can pay some for-profit diploma mill.

4. This is the tried and true ploy of Republicans. This is how
they managed to get Welfare cut to bare bones.
Remember Welfare Queens, and shaming the idea
of welfare so that poor whites would almost
starve rather than apply. Also making the
working poor think they are paying for blacks
on Welfare creating OlD Resentments.

No Democrats ever contradict them and make
the case for welfare benefits and so let us
see what happens with Unemployment.

7. As if I needed more reasons.
K & R to keep us reminded of all the dipshits "toying" with the idea of a GOP presidential run in 2012.

8. Hey Newt, there are five unemployed people for every job opening.
What are you going to do with the other four after you've trained them for jobs that don't exist.
