Tom DeLay isn't in prison yet and gets to celebrate Christmas?
Seriously. I only discovered that today. On December 6, at the request of DeLay's defense attorney a judge DeLayed the sentence (notice how I wrote that word?) until January 10.

Today I also got an email from FireDogLake as I added my name to the letter to stop torturing Bradley Manning. It's horrifying knowing that: a convicted money launderer gets to be free for Christmas, yet someone accused but not convicted of leaking classified information is in solitary confinement this holiday season. Oh, don't forget that those responsible for the action that Manning allegedly leaked are still probably walking free or active duty. And WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is on house arrest this Christmas, yet those who committed those horrific acts that WikiLeaks exposed? Still out in society.

Also, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney get to enjoy the season, but what about the millions of unemployed Americans, the legacy of zero net job creation during the Bush years and the concentration of wealth to the already-rich?

The message? The wealthy and powerful in America get to be as irresponsible as they wanna be. What if Tom DeLay were not actually the former Majority Leader of the US Senate, but rather some ordinary citizen involved in organized crime? He'd be in the slammer today.

Anyway, enjoy your holidays, whether it be Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, cephalopodmas, nothing, or any exotic obscure December holiday that I've never heard of. Reality is just so frustrating.

2. US has done about a complete flip from its founding principles, now a country
that worships money and rewards irresponsibleness, and the hell with the majority of the citizens.

6. His attorneys have employed the Ken Lay defense from the beginning.
The sentencing delay was predictable. Our criminal justice system is fundamentally flawed and this is one of the symptoms. A delay of justice is injustice itself.
