Ground is saturated. So flooding is possible. Be careful out there overnight.

2. They're calling for as much as a foot of snow here tonight.
Have you ever been to Big Bear Lake? It's at 100% capacity at this moment. This last Tuesday the local water authority had to release water from the dam for the first time EVER in December.

Ugh... I had to shovel four feet of snow this morning so 16 people who wanted to go ziplining on Christmas Day wouldn't be disappointed. Four feet of snow over an area of about 1/3 of an acre. Three coworkers and I did it BY HAND (using snow shovels).

You stay dry as well Nadin.

...STORM TO AFFECT SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA LATE SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY...

AN UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM AND ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT WILL
MOVE THROUGH SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA LATE SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY
MORNING...LIKELY CAUSING RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW. THIS WILL BE A FAST
MOVING SYSTEM AND SHOWERS WILL TAPER OFF DURING THE DAY SUNDAY.
HOWEVER...THERE COULD ABOUT A SIX HOUR PERIOD OF MODERATE TO BRIEFLY
HEAVY SHOWERS WITH THE FRONTAL PASSAGE LATE SATURDAY NIGHT AND EARLY
SUNDAY MORNING. THERE WILL ALSO BE A SMALL CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS.
PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM ABOUT HALF AN INCH
TO TWO THIRDS OF AN INCH IN THE COASTAL AND VALLEY AREAS OF ORANGE
AND SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES...TO ABOUT A QUARTER TO HALF AN INCH IN
SOUTHERN RIVERSIDE AND SAN DIEGO COUNTIES WEST OF THE MOUNTAINS.
THERE COULD BE ISOLATED AMOUNTS OF ONE TO LOCALLY TWO INCHES ON THE
SOUTHWEST FACING SLOPES OF THE SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY MOUNTAINS...
WITH ABOUT HALF AN INCH TO AN INCH IN THE RIVERSIDE AND SAN DIEGO
COUNTY MOUNTAINS. GENERALLY LESS THAN A QUARTER OF AN INCH OF RAIN
IS EXPECTED IN THE HIGH DESERTS WITH UP TO ABOUT A TENTH OF AN INCH
IN THE LOWER DESERTS.
THE SNOW LEVEL WILL LOWER TO ABOUT 5500 FEET. SNOW ACCUMULATION
ABOVE 6000 FEET IN THE SAN BERNARDINO AND RIVERSIDE COUNTY MOUNTAINS
SHOULD RANGE FROM ABOUT THREE TO SIX INCHES. HOWEVER...GREATEST
ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE IN THE SAN BERNARDINO MOUNTAINS. ISOLATED
TOTALS AROUND A FOOT ARE POSSIBLE ABOVE 7000 FEET. JUST A DUSTING OF
SNOW IS EXPECTED IN THE HIGHER SAN DIEGO COUNTY MOUNTAINS.
ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL CAUSE RAPID RUNOFF AND FLOODING DUE TO
NEARLY SATURATED GROUND FROM RECENT RAIN. THIS COULD RESULT IN
FLOODING OF LOW LYING AREAS. THERE COULD BE DEBRIS FLOW IN AND
BELOW RECENTLY BURNED AREAS AS WELL AS ROCK AND MUD SLIDES ON STEEP
TERRAIN...AND FURTHER EROSION OF RAIN SOAKED HILLSIDES.
PEOPLE TRAVELING DURING THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND SHOULD CLOSELY MONITOR
THE LATEST NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORECASTS AND STATEMENTS AND
PLAN ACCORDINGLY. THE RAIN WILL CAUSE SLICK ROADS AND MOTORISTS
SHOULD USE EXTRA CAUTION. IF TRAVELING INTO THE MOUNTAINS...BE
PREPARED FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF WINTER STORM CONDITIONS AND THE
NECESSITY TO CARRY CHAINS AT THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS. DO NOT DRIVE
THROUGH FLOODED AREAS OR AROUND BARRICADES.

our local danger apart of already lose hill sides and high rivers... is drivers that believe they can still go at 80 mph... yours is slipping and sliding with the good ol' car.

Having driven in snow dont know what I prefer... the bad so cal drivers WEEEEE... or the turn at 5 mph on black ice. WEEEE!!!!

9. As we left our son's house at 8:30 PM, we commented on how clear the sky was
and a few hours later/....rain :)

nothing too dramatic where we live... yet!
