March 15, 2011

Dear Senator Russell Pearce,

................................

The teacher's instructions were for the students to read a few pages and answer the questions regarding Mark Twain in their history textbook and to finish their final drafts to Senator Steve Gallardo thanking him for his position on Illegal Immigration rights. Their teacher apparently had showed them a video with Senator Steve Gallardo and Lou Dobbs. Most of the students came unprepared for class not possessing paper and pencil. I provided the students with paper and pencils only to have them wade-up the paper and throw it at each other along with their pencils.

The students' final drafts that I read were basically the same. Most of them stated they were in the country illegally, White Americans are racist, and that they came here for a better life. I asked the class if America adopted Mexico immigration laws would Americans still be consider racist?

That question they could not answer and called me a racist for asking it. I mentioned that my wife and children are Hispanic so how could I be racist? I asked the students to stop speaking Spanish in class because it was impolite to speak a language in front of people who may not speak that language. Their response was that Americans better learn Spanish and their customs because they are taking their land back from us.

When it came to completing the Mark Twain assignment only 10 students completed it out of all my classes. Most of the students refused to open the book, tore the pages out of the book, or threw the textbooks at each other. I thought are these the students we are trying to educate with taxpayers money. I have found that substitute teaching in these areas most of the Hispanic students do not want to be educated but rather be gang members and gangsters. They hate America and are determined to reclaim this area for Mexico. If we are able to remove the illegals out of our schools, the class sizes would be reduced and the students who wanted to learn would have a better chance to do so and become productive citizens.

......................

Sincerely,

Tony Hill

2. Could be a fake...not real..here is why..
Edited on Wed Mar-23-11 08:36 AM by Stuart G
Too many things that do not resonate.."My wife and children are Hispanic.." He would know how to deal with Hispanics if that were true..and not create a problem...This does not sound like a real experience but a made up one..typical right wing crap..

..So In my honest opinion..(taught in public schools over 27 years) this is a made up experience to create more hatred. Would Hispanic 8th graders start a fight with a white sub over some lesson????..only those who have had a lot of Hispanic kids would know, but something feels false about this.. My gut tells me they might not do the work, but start some kind of argument..nope..

teaching in the school district named.

Nine On Your Side called Hill but his voice mail was full. He did not return our calls or reply to our emails.

So, KGUN9 News also called all five school districts located in Glendale. All five districts confirmed to KGUN9 News, according to school records, a Tony or Anthony Hill has never worked for any of them as a teacher or substitute, at least in the last two years.

The Glendale School District also stated it does not teach its 8th grade students about Mark Twain as Hill alluded to in his letter. A spokesperson said Mark Twain is not part of the districts curriculum for middle school students.

That’s why Hispanic lawmakers want Pearce to prove the facts stated in Hill’s letter are really true.

“Not only does Senator Klein owe us all an apology and every student in the state of Arizona an apology, I think Russell Pearce has some questions to answer,” said Gallardo.

Not a deep lake, mind you.

15. And I'm sure this clown
knows the best way to reduce illegal immigration is to get rid of incentives for them to come here illegally. Hmmmm, let me think: oh, that's right! Slam the EMPLOYERS with some fucking heavy-ass fines and jail time and that pool of illegal immigrant labor will dry up real quick because there'd be nobody to hire them! QED.

Oh, and yes, the letter is fake and written by a racist asswipe. Cheers.

18. The students contradict this:
http://azstarnet.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/article_1a5fe1de-559d-11e0-bf30-001cc4c002e0.html

District spokesman Jim Cummings said all students questioned in the inquiry have said everyone stood for the pledge and that none said their land had been stolen. "What we are finding here - and what we believe - is that the statements that he made weren't accurate," Cummings said.

A recorded message on Hill's (teacher Tony Hill) phone said his number had been changed or disconnected. He didn't return two e-mails seeking comment on Wednesday afternoon.

five years. This does not ring true to me in any way, shape, or form. True, students of all ethnicities misbehave for substitute teachers. I also spent a couple of years substitute teaching, and I know this all too well. However, if anything, I have trouble encouraging my Hispanic students to speak Spanish at all, even when I need a translator. To cite a very recent example from last week, a fifth grade girl (a former student of mine), told me that speaking Spanish is "embarrassing." I have heard versions of this countless times over the years. To me, this is tragic and of course, I try to encourage them to be proud of their heritage. So I have no idea what this person is talking about.
