The script on killing social security is in
And it was as predictable as ever.

Jon Kyl was making a speech today on C-SPAN about how we needed the tax cuts and how great they are and then---out of the other side of his mouth--he starts talking about cutting spending---how we can't sustain the deficit and blah, blah, blah.

So....we give billionaires tax breaks that will run up the debt and cost future generations BILLIONS---but now--we have to watch spending.

Oh---kay.

The payroll tax cut is the first step toward defunding social security. I'm guessing they want it ultimately privatized or cut to nothing so that the wealth can further transfer to the top.

Thank God Obama is standing in their way and.....oh...no, that's right...nevermind.

What a sham he turned out to be. From his catfood commision to his tax cutting stunt--he's exposed himself.

And to all the Obama defenders---let me just ask a simple question:

If this were Bush--continuing the wars, trashing a public option, tax cuts for the wealthy, threatening social secutiy and all the other wonderful little things he's done---would you be defending Bush?

Really?

Being a Democrat is more than having a "D" in front of your name--it's about what you DO---HOW you govern--and WHO you truly represent.

In Obama's case--it ain't us.

1. So instead of increasing the safety net for those less fortunate, and even for those that have

actually earned it i.e. paid SS all their working lives...we are now entering an era where there will be nothing but poor houses, homeless families, Americans dying due to little or no health care, second rate education, child labor, millionaire who do not pay taxes.....wow..we are marching triumphantly back into the 19th Century.

EDIT: But plenty of money to wage wars around the world...that sacrifice the lives of our children.

What an embarrassment this country is!!!!!

2. Sadly, it looks this way

I will probably never be able to retire and I look forward(I'm 48 now) to a miserable difficult old age--being more of a burden to my children than I ever wanted to be.

And as for my kids(not so much kids--age 21 and 18),I feel horrible for them. What sort of "land of opportunity" are we leaving them? Besides a shattered American Dream they will have to deal with a planet growing increasingly unliveable.

It makes me fume and want to scream--but hardly anyone hears.

Americans will only pay attention when we crash and burn. Until then they'll cheerlead their teams no matter what or remain apathetic to everything but the latest sports score or "Dancing with the Stars" result.

Sad.

5. We are rapidly turning into that shining example
of the libertarian paradise - Haiti. One good thing, we won't have to worry about politicians selling us out. There won't be any money to pay their salaries. Out infrastructure will be in ruins, national parks long sold off for their resources, life expectancy greatly reduced, infant mortality increased, education only for those who can afford the uniforms and the only job opportunities will be in the military. I weep for my grandchild.

We are a huge liberal/progressive voting bloc --

3. I don't think they will "privatize" it
Because the money is already spent, or will be, on tax cuts for the rich. My bet is that the payroll tax for SS becomes just another revenue stream and Soc Sec is phased out, with only the bottom most tax bracket getting anything and means-testing and retirement age raising gutting the rest of it.

4. Please, those who have unquestioning support for the President, explain this away
for those of us who just cannot understand.
