Honestly, there isn't even six inches of snow out there. Philly can't afford to clean the roads though. I just drove through town and they haven't plowed squat. Another budget item that gets cut due to States and Municipalities not having any money.

We are truly in decline.

1. Yup.. but I finally got a chance to see what the hubbub with the Done in a Minute gameshow
because I never saw the gameshow itself, but there was a deaf version of it on the cruise I attended in August.

I decided to DVR it. Is that bad?

3. I'm sure Philly fans are thrilled that their team...
...is going to get to play an opponent that's been holdup for 3 days under good conditions, but as a Bears fan, pretty chicken shit. The mayor calls a snow emergency to get the game postponed.

Maybe 49er fans are sympathetic to Eagles fans, but in Chicago, that's fucking ludicrous.

4. I don't think any amount of rest is going to help the Vikings.
They're hopeless this year.

14. It doesn't work that way...
Not to be argumentative, but adverse weather conditions typically favor the worse team. As for this game, the Eagles are a speed team, and the snow and wind will only slow down their explosive offense.

Also, Eagles players go back to their homes, Vikings players are stranded and holdup in hotels for 3 days. That's more like restless than restful.

But beyond that, when three teams (Chicago, Atlanta, and Philly) are vying for the top two seeds with just two weeks to play, the integrity of the game is compromised when politicians are calling the shots.

6. Seriously though
this should not be an emergency. Can you imagine postponing a game in Green Bay for six inches of snow? The mayor's a putz.

10. It's a snow emergency because of the driving wind. We have had whiteout
conditions.

Look, Philly took 45 inches in 5 days last year, and the mayor did a fan-fucking-tastic job. The game got called because it's nearly impossible to drive on 95 right now.

16. What the eff is a snow emergency?
Seriously, they were saying that the wind chill was in the teens.
The broadcast booth was mocking your city for not playing.

The difference between a win and a loss could mean hosting a playoff game. There's your justification for a snow emergency.

7. My street is plowed and salted. The game was called because of the driving
conditions--50 mph winds, and slippery roads. No reason to have people risk life and limb.

We angle park here so the bumper faces the curb and they plow behind our cars forming mountains back there we have to dig out from. :(

23. they are calling for 2 inches an hour over night, why plow before it snows?
You plow after some percentage of the forecast snow has fallen.

I would assume they will wait until about 1/3 of the snow has fallen before they start so that they can do it 3 times to get it all. (just a guess)

I agree with the decision to postpone the game. I don't know how many people the stadium seats but I would guess you would have anywhere from 20,000 to 25,000 vehicles out driving in that weather to get to and from the game.

If even one accident occurred that resulted in a loss of life then playing the game on time would have been the wrong decision.

Also it kinda screws the Vikings into a very short week and they need to come play the Lions sunday. We need every advantage we can get. Maybe it is Karma's way of paying us back for letting them use our stadium a couple weeks ago.

28. Is Philly part of SoCal?
Edited on Mon Dec-27-10 12:04 AM by WhaTHellsgoingonhere
We play in snow and frigid conditions every year in several NFL cities. I don't know if any of you whiners have gone to a large stadium, but stadium traffic is packed closely and moves very slow. No one is going to get hurt. Accidents occur where you have people driving at speed with separation.

27. Hahaha, where's John Ashcraft when you need him? "where the eagle soars"
They will make it up later, but it is still going to be a shellacking!

That's my new term for the new year, shellacking.
Every time someone gets in a good snarky response, I'm going to respond with "wow, that's a good shellacking", or "I've never been so shellacked" or "OMG. The shellacking, it's tremendous."

LoL
