like this one:

A few years ago I lost my dad and inherited all his old tools. Wanting to do something special with them I took an old fencepost left lying around his garage and turned it into this guitar.

This simple act of grieving started me on the road which ultimately has me now having my own workshop where I make and craft guitars often from reclaimed or sustainable wood. I've built them from old charity store tables and doors to window frames and scaffolding.

It's amazing what you can achieve with a little passion.

4. OK, not as impressive maybe....
but I do it all the time.

Does anyone know how many things you can do with an ordinary chopstick?

Paper clip?

Plastic margarine (or Cool Whip) tub?

It's fun trying to find new uses for ordinary things.

12. yes, i do that too
i keep a lot of plants and a couple of aquariums. Plastic tubs are very useful for various maintenance tasks. Transparent deli containers are mini greenhouses for small plants that need high humidity. Glass jars are used for food storage, and storing/organzing hobby supplies. Old tshirts become rags and I even turned one into rope (that was not strong but useful for tying bags, etc..) Plastic condiment cups make great pots for mini plants.

I wish i knew how to sew, tho' ... so much i could do with old shirts and rugs.

5. I'm impressed
Due to my disability I built this cart pictured here using the motors and electronic parts from a discarded power chair. I'm working on a new design now that I plan to start building and selling. Hopefully just in time for my wifes retirement.

7. I have a friend who uses old metal tools and car parts
and creates amazing sculpture. I'm the proud owner of an old deconstructed carburetor and have another sculpture made of pistons and other parts coming.

8. The guitar is beautiful.
I built a CNC router from trees that fell on the property, Ebay and the local scrap dealer.

The control enclosure is a dead microwave. I needed the big transformer core inside to rewind for the secondary voltage required by the stepper motors, so I reused the enclosure.

It's not often that you see a microwave oven with a parallel port. I tell people it's a food printer.

11. In high school (1963) I made a beautiful jewelry box from a beat up old board found in a field.
It's amazing what old wood can look like when you plane it and put a nice finish on it.

14. It's called a kludge most often
and it's how my whole life works, using inappropriate objects to patch something else temporarily because I lack either the time or funds to do it properly.

That is a fine looking guitar, though.
