The wingnuts' continuous quest for a "they".
The extreme right wing is a morally bankrupt and intellectually bereft tribe of screamers who cannot stand on their own. Unable to articulate a sensible set of goals for our nation, they prosper only when they are allowed to be loudly and passionately against someone.

The someone is seldom an individual for more than a day or two. They may practice their aim from time to time on individuals and a few, such as Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama ave been consistent targets. But, as all truly effective GOP political consultants understand, the best "they" is unnamed and only vaguely identified.

Named people, you see, can defend themselves and statements of fact made about them can be fact-checked. If you say that Liberal Congressman Smith voted to give Texas to Al Qaeda, that can quickly be shown to be false.

But, if you say that Muslims are terrorists or that illegal immigrants are criminals, those are much more difficult to disprove in the public arena. While there are NO Congressmen Smith who voted to give Texas to Al Qaeda, SOME terrorists do profess to be Muslims and SOME illegal immigrants are criminals.

You may think that is a ridiculous comparison, but the wingnut base considers it "proof" and can be relied upon to vote against "them" in every election.

Communists, "the Hun", the "Yellow Peril", black people, brown people, gay people, Muslims, the Irish, Catholics, Jews---all these have served as "they" from time to time. And, all were used to distract the American people from the true nature of the enemy.

No matter our skin color, our faith or lack thereof, our sexual orientation, age, ancestry or profession, we have much more to fear from the wealthy elites and their corporate tools than any "they" the spin-meisters could invent.

And, of course, the ultimate "they" will always be US.

2. Including the ones who were brought here by their parents when they were babies
Welcome to DU. Maybe you'll learn a few things while you're here.

3. Thats it.
They are the good people. It's the other bad people who are ruining the country. It's all tribalism. They pretend like there is this well thought out ideology, but it really isn't. You can't have a logical debate with them because it is not really about reason; it is about instinct.
