Chris -Tweety- Matthews: Born Again Birther?
Chris Matthews: Why Doesn’t Obama Say ‘Send Me A Copy’ Of My Birth Certificate Right Now
by Matt Schneider | 6:22 pm, December 27th, 2010

The debate over President Obama’s birth certificate is gaining some renewed interest. First Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie announced that he will try to publicly release the document, and now MSNBC host Chris Matthews is wondering aloud why we can’t just kill this “crappy story.”

Matthews is interested whether Abercrombie will actually be able to find it, but is still puzzled why Obama hasn’t tried to clear up the confusion earlier, telling his guests:

I don’t understand why the Governor doesn’t just say ’snap it up . . . send me a copy right now.’ And why doesn’t the President just say ’send me a copy right now.’ Why doesn’t Gibbs and Axelrod say ‘let’s just get this crappy story dead.’

Liberal columnist Clarence Page says the President is right for ignoring this “crap” and that there is little to benefit from attempting to legitimize the craziness of the birthers. Page even humorously suggests the likely outcome that would result if a document alleged to be the birth certificate is eventually produced, claiming “birthers are still not going to believe it, they’re going to say ‘well that Governor is part of the conspiracy too, because he’s a Democrat.’”

Obligatory Disclaimer: Yeah, I know, the site is a piece of shit and predominantly GOP supportive. But, the video with Matthews is there.

Tweety is, at best, not an asswipe only fifty percent of the time.

1. Next time someone tries to push the "Tweety is a serious journalist" meme,
I'm just going to bookmark this for reference.

2. Everytime Matthews has a birther on, he shows them a copy of the birth certificate
and talks about Obama's birth annnouncement in the papers. So he may be in devils advocate mode.

At any rate, the "crappy story" can't be killed - those who believe Obama was born in Kenya will claim any evidence is forged.

3. This is about as misleading a post as I've seen here.

His point was that if only 57% of your constituency can say you were born in the US; then it's time to settle the issue. Matthews called both birthers and those who are undecided idiots. ...and used such language. The video seemed to have been selectively edited to exclude that quote. I'd post the transcript but it looks like the transcribers are on vacation. What's your agenda with this post?

4. I seen the show too
And the OP is not describing what I seen either.

For the record.

The point Tweety made was that nothing was going to convince the birther nuts.

10. It's just this simple....
1. this whole "birther" movement is, at the lower end of the Richter scacle of such, composed of political terrorists;
2. you do -not- give into, comply with, or support the demands of terrorists. Ever. (The abiding Obama strategy to this nonsense, thus far.)
3. by doing what Tweety did - irrespective of the context of the full program - he demanded (ostensibly under the guise of putting this "issue to rest") that Obama comply with these irrational demands of this particular sub-set of wingnut terrorists.
4. and even if Obama were to do it, I cite the wise counsel of Page: it would still not be accepted - nor will it ever.;
5. BUT, it would continue this ridiculous birther meme, as that which Matthews did on this program - and by the way, did the Governor of Hawaii earlier this week by his own stupid comments as well.

So, instead of those who anarkily challenge my motives (and, oh my, my AGENDA!) in posting this, that alerts this community to, at the least, Matthews' abject stupidity, you might want to ask, just as I did when I read the citation, just what are Matthews' motives and agenda in this matter.

Further please note - by the dripping sarcasm of this Gawker piece, I am not the only one to sense that all is not that hard on Hardball; to wit:

Chris Matthews Demands to See Obama's Birth Certificate, Now
"Look: MSNBC's Chris Matthews is not a birther, okay? That said... he still wants to know why Barack Obama hasn't shown whatever super-secret copy of his birth certificate. Where is it, Obama? But again: Chris Matthews is not a birther."

11. Yes, Tweety keeps bringing up this nonsense
And, despite the disclaimer, he keeps having folks on to talk about it. "The controversy that is no controversy, President Obama's birth certificate. Doubters want to know why he doesn't produce his original birth certificate. They claim that the president wasn't born in the United States. They say that this is the culmination of a decades-long plot by shadowy forces to install a sort of Manchurian Candidate in the Oval Office, a man, they say, who is committed to the destruction of the United States and the American way. We'll be discussing these claims at length today! On the Tweety Show."

{Half an hour of nauseating innuendo, half-baked conspiracy theories, and just plain wrong on the facts hyperbole}

"Well that's our show for today. And remember, this is all nonsense."
