What's A Permalink?.......

I just noticed this. Never used it. What does it do?

1. Near as I can figure out it's a link to a particular post.

2. It's a link that's supposed to always point to a particular post or article.

For example, you might see a blog post you want to share, so you post a link to the home page of the blog because the article you want to share is the first article there. But tomorrow there's a new first article and the one you wanted to share is someplace else. The permlink will always point to that particular post or article no matter how the rest of the site content is changed.

3. If you want to link to a particular post rather than an entire thread, use it

It is useful when linking to another reply rather than having to sort through a whole thread to find out what someone is linking to.

For instance, link to this thread is http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x8308
