Good grief.

Well, maybe I'll escape it this time.....SoCal looks clear .........so far. :scared:

It looks like lots of snow in the Sierras, which is where our water comes from...

That at least is good news...

20. This pattern is similar to 2006. Could get dicey.
I got flooded out of a place in Monte Rio that New Years Eve. I'm still on the Russian River, but up high.

It's pouring here now.

Howdy neighbor! :hi:

23. Man, I rember that.
I was living on a steep hillside in Marin and I could hear the water running down the hill at night. It rained every day for a month, if I recall.

Howdy back at'cha, WG. I have been following your health woes.

I am quite good at it.

We have been standing on the veranda - loaded - and watching the wind and rain shift.

46. I remember a harp builder from there. The flooding
wiped him out.

He came up with a computer program (in Basic) for determining string size for nylon stringed harps. You plug in note and length and it will tell you the correct gauge. You could design a harp from the strings/stringband out using his program.

31. It can come up surprisingly fast.
I spent from Tuesday till Saturday (New Years Eve 2006) renting a large van and storage locker and moving all my shit. My neighbors were chuckling at me till about Friday afternoon. By Saturday they were scrambling to save their stereos and TeeVees.

I had been online looking at the river levels and the storms coming in, and ignored a bunch of old-timers telling me to relax. I left three pieces of furniture up on the kitchen counters, and the river came up to about 3 inches below that stuff. I didn't lose a thing, but the apartment was completely trashed with 4 feet of river silt in it.

39. I was at Fife's in Guerneville years ago and I recall well being amazed at
the flood markings for the height of some of the floods throughout the years. Yeah, the worst part is the river silt. Glad to hear you're on higher ground now. That must be a relief with all of this rain going on.

43. You're smart....
don't try to outwit Mother Nature. She always wins. I remember driving across the Golden Gate during one of those rainstorms...and the bridge was swinging in the air. There is nothing like CA rain.

I miss N. CA very much....even the rains.

Be safe. I'm sure you have candles, etc.

3. We may be in trouble here.
There has been so much water lately and now this.

I have this big old Mercedes and the fog/weather lights weren't helping a bit, tonight. Some of the low-water bridges I drove across looked as if they could be underwater any time, now.

15. My sheep are in the "sacrifice" paddocks to protect the
pasture plants, and they are royally irritated. Hay is awful compared to greens. I am sick of slugging it around in the mud and my barn is flooded so I can't even feed them undercover.

We need the rain, I am grateful for it, but sure wish that we get enough of a break that I can do some more work to prevent the barn from flooding more!

And the high winds are scary as well. I am so grateful that I have a house to go into.

17. Oh Geez,
My son and his GF are here from NYC. They flew out before that big mess but they are now worried that all the delayed and rescheduled flights won't get them back in time for their jobs. They are flying out on Friday morning and have to be at work on Sunday.

Today we went to Occidental. Had a lovely lunch at the Union Hotel in the rain. Lots of pretty countryside in the rain. Drove home in the rain. Tomorrow we will go wine tasting in the rain. Have barbecue in the rain when we get back. This is the hand we've been dealt so we're trying to make the best of it.

We have a severe warning already in place. YAY we might get some snow in Julian though. We are suckers to go play in the snow.

Oh and it is as far south as Mission Hills already. San Fran looks UGLY.
