Poll question: Tonight Tucker Carlson on FOX NEWS said Mike Vick should be executed, do you agree?
Is there precedent for capital punishment for animal cruelty?

Tucker Carlson: “I Think Personally Should Have Been Executed”

by Glenn Davis | 10:25 pm, December 28th, 2010

Tucker Carlson again filled in for Sean Hannity on Hannity tonight, and couldn’t resist, as others already had, delving into the issue of President Obama praising Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie for giving quarterback Michael Vick a second chance following Vick’s prison sentence for dog fighting. And while Carlson said he “believe (s) fervently in second chances,” he didn’t in Vick’s case. At all.

Carlson differentiated between Vick and others because Vick “killed dogs…in a heartless and cruel way.” This is true. But what Carlson believed to be the proper punishment for Vick is sure to get some attention:

“I think, personally, he should have been executed for that.”
Whoa. The conversation eventually turned to whether it was appropriate for Obama to weigh in on this matter at all (although, as the White House said, the primary focus of Obama’s discussion with Lurie was alternative energy) – golfer Ben Crenshaw, on the panel for some reason, came off as a Vick supporter but sounded unsure of whether the president should be discussing the matter. Republican strategist Leslie Sanchez voiced similar views, whereas Fox News contributor Doug Schoen didn’t see an issue with Obama’s comments.

18. Let's see who has the guts to agree. 2 "Yes"es in the poll right now.
Because some of the posts I've seen here today all but leave little option for what these angry people would want to do.

Apparently Vick's actual incarceration wasn't sufficient for some, so...what would have been?

And no one is seriously suggesting that Vick should've been given the death penalty for this (and if they are, they're as much of an idiot as the rest of the people that are suddenly, totally coincidentally :sarcasm: interested in shitting all over a debate some of us have been busy having for years).

I always thought Carlson was an asshole, but that comment also makes me think he's dumb. The whole "execute em" thing is a right wing thing they do cause they're too lazy to want to think about appropriate punishment.

And he wants to execute someone for operating a business in true capitalistic, cut the weak and the unprofitable, fashion? Where is this man's dedication to the market system?

Next thing I imagine he will be wanting to give bonuses to workers making under one million dollars. Disgusting. Man up Carlton or Carlson or whatever!!!!! I thought your father taught you better.

31. Tucker Loves Him Some 'Satan Palin'
Edited on Wed Dec-29-10 03:54 AM by tomm2thumbs
Tucker Carlson thinks an awful lot of one Miss Sarah Palin, speaking fondly of his love:

'I have a profound emotional attachment to Sarah Palin that reason doesn't touch. I mean, in other words, you could tell me that Sarah Palin... I don't know... had breakfast with Satan last week at the Four Seasons... and it wouldn't really damage my love for her.'

32. Tucker Carlson has no redeeming qualities
Even knowing what Michael Vick did, he has paid the price and hopefully had a change in his heart. Tucker Carlson has no heart, he will never change, will never have to re-evaluate his ideology and how it has affected people which in turn affects animals and families. Has Tucker ever had to pay a price for anything he has ever validated like torture or promoting an illegal and immoral war? So really, who is the worst person here?

HELL NO!

In a conversation with the Eagles owners he commended him for taking a chance on Vick, and that was not the genesis of the call.

40. The "alternative energy" story came out later. There are thousands of other folks doing good
in this country who could've been called. As I said, I don't have a problem with him being employed. God knows what he would do to folks on the street if he were unemployed given his violent tendencies. But the death penalty is over the top. I've only agreed with that in one case - Timothy McVey.

You really don't. Now you can FOIA White House records but other than that you can not definitively tell me who else was called.

And going back to my point. The White House did not call media attention to this call.

I personally think this was a politically calculated move by Mr. Obama - he's gonna need those moderate and conservative voters now that he has pissed off most progressives (I did not say "most democrats" so the blue pens can take a break...).

I also think it was a dumb move, but then I realize my view on animal rights is not widespread. His message may well resonate with many neanderthals out there.

41. I conclude that watching Fox makes DUers ask stupid questions
Vick should not be made into a hero, as the President insists he is. Children should not be told to look up to a dog killing sociopath. This guy hung dogs from trees. Among other things. He was a ring leader. He got off on abuse.
Vick's dog baiting and McClurkin's gay baiting have both been huge favorites of the President's. I've had enough of it. I was raised to respect all living things, and to treat all people as equals. This kill for sport and hold prejudice against others routine is just not the way I am.
I'll take a pass on the dog killing and gay bashing, thanks. Vicky and Donnie can go fuck themselves.
