Rep Davis to Clinton: Stay out of Chicago politics
CHICAGO – Congressman Danny Davis has a message for former President Bill Clinton: Don't take sides in the Chicago mayor's race — or else.

Davis, a longtime friend of Clinton, warned the ex-president on Tuesday that he could jeopardize his "long and fruitful relationship" with the black community if he campaigns for former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel instead of one of the two leading black candidates running — Davis or former Sen. Carol Moseley Braun.

The warning highlights the stakes in what is gearing up to be a contentious race for mayor in the nation's third-largest city. About a dozen people have made it on to the ballot to replace retiring Mayor Richard M. Daley, who is bowing out after more than 20 years in office, giving candidates their first real shot at Chicago's top job for the first time in two decades.

In a news release, Davis, a Democrat from Chicago's West Side, said Clinton's relationship with the black community may be "fractured and perhaps even broken" if he comes to town to stump for Emanuel, who moved back to Chicago this fall to run for mayor and is leading in the polls.

Lol. like clinton cares about "the black community" anymore. He goes where the money is.

1. Well, this should be interesting...
Not sure I see Clinton backing off, though.

2. Yes, Bill has done more damage meddling in local political affairs.
Obama, too! Nothing pisses me off more. We don't need Bill or Obama anywhere telling people how to vote!!

You're my Congressman, and I've voted for you three times now. But you're not likely to be mayor anyway. You will be 70 this year, and we have never forgotten this, from only 6 years ago:

More than a dozen lawmakers attended a congressional reception this year honoring the Rev. Sun Myung Moon in which Moon declared himself the Messiah and said his teachings have helped Hitler and Stalin be "reborn as new persons."

At the March 23 ceremony in the Dirksen Senate Office Building, Rep. Danny K. Davis (D-Ill.) wore white gloves and carried a pillow holding an ornate crown.

Ouch. That just hurt so much: I've just never felt I could trust your judgment after that. It was just about the stupidest thing I've ever seen a Congressperson do. Please, let's not cast stones.

5. Having a "fractured and perhaps even broken"
relationship with the black community might mean more if Clinton was running for something.

fill us in on how she served as a Senator. I didn't realize she was a presidential candidate, but I'm familiar with her and always thought well of her.....

7. I'm sure Clinton is shaking in his boots.
President Clinton is free to endorse whoever he chooses.

Rahm is going win this thing in a cakewalk, we will see if a runoff is even needed.

9. Unrec and bullshit. Bill Clinton should have the right to campaign for whomever he wishes. Threats
and dares like this don't do anyone any good.

10. Looks like Danny Davis is scared of Bill Clinton ;)
I've talked with my aunt up in Illinois a few times over the past several weeks,
and she said that Rahm got a TON of (positive) free press up there during the 'residency eligibility' hearings.
I think Rahm will win by a landslide - and Bill Clinton will just be the icing on the cake :)

13. You picked Danny Davis as your means to scold President Clinton????
After I pick myself up off the floor laughing, I'm going to point you upthread to the picture of Danny Davis holding the crown in the Sung Yung Moon Coronation Ceremony a few years ago.....

15. Senator Clinton's ties to Reverend Sun Myung Moon should be examined
Edited on Wed Dec-29-10 02:49 PM by Hannah Bell
http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=104&S...

<<<Rev. Moon addresses the UPF General Assembly this evening on the topic
of "The United States and the Future Direction of the United Nations and
the World." More than 1200 people will represent all 190 nations present at
the UN. Letters of support from Heads of State from many nations will be
read, as well as messages of support from local political leaders including
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, and from religious leaders, NGO directors
and other others.>>>

What was her message of support for the UPF?

"I applaud the Universal Peace Federation's global network of individuals and organizations committed to peace building through dialogue, education and service."

That's according to http://realsunmyungmoon.blogspot.com/2008/01/hillary-an...

They have a screenshot of her message that was played in the video.

the list of people in dc who've taken money or information from the moonie intelligence operation = large.

Hilary Clinton attended the prayer breakfasts of "The Family".

Moon is tied to a number of people associated with "The Family".

davis taking their money doesn't mean rahm is any better. rahm takes money from dubious actors too.

16. Yeah, cause telling Bill what to do has worked out so well in the past.
He, Hillary, and Obama are probably the most popular people in the party right now. Not gonna make any friends slapping Bill Clinton around.

18. Why bring up race issues in this election
Is race being used as a qualification to run for mayor?

20. Interesting, isn't it??? Bringing up race in an election that features a Jewish person, and two
African-Americans????

One wonders what the motivation of Rep. Davis is.
