A coalition of Boomers to pressure both parties. I am thinking
about what it would take to get Boomers united to try and correct some of the problems of the country. I know we had a lot to do with causing some problems and now is the time to redeem ourselves and get back to some of our anti-corporatist roots.

Our representatives, so called, don't seem to want to stop America's slide into third world status. They don't want to fight climate change. They seem to be answering to the upper two or three per cent...the rich and the richer.

We need some dynamic spokespeople to rally the Boomers. I wonder if Russ Feingold and Alan Grayson might be interested in trying to help outside of government. Any Republicans interestd? If the tens of millions of Boomers could agree on a few issues and put pressure on politicians and corporations we might see real change.

I think six areas that many could agree on are:

1. Public funding of Federal elections (Including rules for lobbying.)
2. Medicare for all (real single-payer universal health care)
3. Real financial reform to stop future collapses (Regulate banks and Wall Street)
4. Jobs (Created from Green technology and Infrastructure repair)
5. Realistic trimming of the Pentagon's budget (Give Peace a Chance!)
6. Food Safety

What do you think?

I think people pressuring both parties and threatening boycotts, etc. might work.

2. We ARE many and they are few. How to get us together is the question.
Many are scared and pessimistic about the future. Can we be made to see that we CAN change things?

7. Social Security Supplemental or Social Security? SSI & SSA are
two different programs. Are you talking about both? SSI is vital to those of us who get very little Social Security. I get $255 a month and I could not live on just that. As to this idea I missed being a boomer by just one year (1941) and I wish I could be part of what you are talking about. I believe that any change we get must come from the bottom up and a group like this would definitely qualify as a part of that.

5. Fraud is a felony. The powers-that-be need to put banksters behind bars.
Whoops. So sorry. Banksters ARE the powers-that-be.

6. Problem is
Many Bommers are exactly the ones that bought into GOP and Tea bagger crap. We need a LEFT coalition, that extends to all strata.

8. We need a Common Denominator
Lets face it - The 1 thing both Progressives and TeaBaggers alike will agree upon is Government is broken

The RATpubliCONs had Full Control of the Government. They owned the House, Senate, and the Executive for 8 years. Did they push through the Agenda of the Right - NO. They didn't roll back Roe v Wade, put Religion in our schools, or Disassemble the Entitlement Programs we here them complain about on daily basis.

The Dems have a Super Majority and full control of the House, Senate, and the Executive for the last 2 years. All we got was a Watered Down, Insurance Company Friendly version of Health Reform, and "Window Dressing type Wall St reforms, not nearly what we had hoped for. Same thing, we were feed token reforms and told "them pesky Blue Dogs keep flippin on us" - what a crock of shit!

The Common Denominator - The Rich got Richer and the Poor got Poorer

The Progressives blame the Wealthy Elite, and the TeaBaggers blame the Entitlement Programs, but really we both need to be blaming ourselves. We keep falling for this crap year after year.
