Cory Booker Is Showing Us How To Be Democrats Again
for better or worse, and I don't live in newark, but everything I see about mayor booker is amazing.

everytime I check the man's feed on twitter and myspace, I see people appreciating strength and courage and respect.

we should all take this as an example. we are DEMOCRATS. we are America's Party. since our founder, the father of the constitution, Thomas Jefferson bequeathed this great gift and responsibility of freedom to us, we have always been the defenders of freedom and liberty.

let us never forget, despite our sometimes difference, our sometimes arguments, we are America's party. we are here to serve our fellow Americans and give strength to this great experiment of freedom.

may God bless the Democratic party, my fellow liberals, and may we all look to people like cory booker, russ feingold, and howard dean to stand strong, and stand together, so that we may build a more perfect Union.

1. cory booker is no different from bloomberg. he's laying off sanitation (snow removal)
workers & privatizing services.

the only difference is instead of sitting in his swank apartment giving press releases about how great everything is, he'll rush over & shovel your driveway -- with his photography crew in tow.

big fucking deal. fascism with a friendly face. he feels your pain.

isn't that nice, he's got a good PR department.

NEWARK — Newark Mayor Cory Booker plans to gut the city’s sanitation department as part of a radical downsizing of municipal government, but the hundreds of workers losing their jobs are not going quietly.

In his 2010 budget, Booker calls for eliminating 220 of the 251 sanitation workers, saving the city $1.1 million this year.

More than 100 workers, who were on a mandated furlough day Wednesday, marched in front of City Hall, shutting down traffic and demanding that Booker reconsider the cuts.

"Cory Booker is going to sell our city brick by brick," Muhammad said shortly before being carted away in handcuffs by Newark Police.

Newark is looking to cut the ballooning costs of personnel by relying more on private companies to provide city services.

Booker is a model for Democrats if you like right-wing Republicans.

the whole union thing kinda fell through. either way, mayor booker is a politician. but, he's doing a helluva lot more than other people are.

not many politicians even bother to personally respond to anything.

3. why should they? i can get my snow shoveled for $5/hour here. why would i want the mayor wasting

his time doing it? he's more expensive than any of the city workers he's firing, & he doesn't have a snowplow.

the fact is booker is enacting the same neo-lib programme as bloomberg & christie: privatization, ed deform, & attacks on public workers.

he just smiles while he puts the knife in & has nice manners with the proles.

but that's enough for some people, apparently.

6. Great post
Form is form and content is content. Neo-liberal is still neo-liberal.

like merit pay, eliminating tenure, busting the union?

and he is to be admired by the Dems?

doesn't snarl nastily at his critics & isn't afraid of poor black people.

also, he doesn't schedule his vacations in winter.

oh, & not a rush limbaugh look-alike.

other than that, same program.
