Putting more prisoners to work

Anonymous The Tribune-Democrat The Tribune-Democrat Fri Dec 17, 2010, 01:00 AM EST

— Hmmm. Are Cambria and Somerset county officials paying attention?

Allegheny County Council last week enacted an ordinance ordering the county jail’s warden to “finalize a policy to govern inmate employment outside the jail itself.”

That’s according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which further explained that inmates doing time at the prison for nonviolent offenses soon might be on the job in the public on a regular and structured basis.

We believe that makes a lot of sense, especially in these tough economic times.

1. Lose your job? Smoke some marijuana and go to prison, and you'll be doing that same job in no time
Sure, you'll only be making a dollar an hour, but hey, at least you won't be some mooch living off of welfare, right? Right? :sarcasm:

5. Eh, more like fifteen cents an hour..
And then you get to buy "luxuries" like toothpaste from the prison store at full retail plus a healthy markup.

Our Galtian overlords don't miss a trick, or a penny.
