WOW, I can't recall ever hearing that.

Watch out Illinois! Just saw on CNN.

Here's the NWS warning stream.

1. And there was at least one tornado in NW Arkansas
It's the first time I've ever heard of a December (nearly January) tornado hitting that part of the state.

2. These were powerful
Still may be. This is a strong front that belongs back in August.

I guess the weather is gonna get weird for a while.

5. It's bitter here in the high desert in NM
and will likely top out in the 20s today. I just hope it discourages some of the drunks from shooting their guns into the air tonight.

7. But at least the sun came out and
it stopped snowing!

The roads should be clear, all except at the hospital where I work and which does a phenomenally bad job of clearing the parking lots and roadways there. There's this bizarre inability to understand that there are chemicals that can be put down to melt ice, which do the job down to -20. Last winter at the hospital I know of at least two people (one a nurse, one a volunteer) who slipped and fell in the icy parking lot and broke a limb. I'm seriously considering contacting the local paper about this problem. Last night the ambulances were having trouble pulling up the small hill into the ambulance bay at the hospital.

9. It's the same here
where I've landed on my rump and wrenched my back on the way into work more than once.

At least most of the snow is staying on the mountains this year.

8. At least 2 tornados came through the St. Louis area
A lot of destruction, but no deaths and only a few minor injuries. There are reports of 3 deaths in Arkansas and one in Rolla, Mo.
