Remember if it wasn't for Ben Nelson siding with the Republicans to give them their fifty votes
Which allowed Cheney to cast the tie breaking vote we wouldn't be having this tax cut debate...

4. Hmmm... and there's no legal remedy for lying to use reconciliation, I guess...
Would've been nice if the episode gave the Dems some backbone, in its wake.

But I guess 9/11 and strategically delivered white powder saw to that...

7. It isn't up to the Senate
I believe it is Office of Budget and Management that decides what meets the criteria. It isn't up to the Senate.. Democrats could have used the exact same reasoning to pass their middle class tax cuts and let the rest expire but noooo, they said it had no effect on the deficit so could not be used...

8. I'll have to look that up - BUT as a reality I don't think dem senators
Are sold a 'bill of goods' that they sell us out on in good faith.

Their aides feed them info from all kinds of sources all the time.
And both the senators and their aides know from good info.

11. That's actually not true at all for the 2001 tax cuts. Those passed with 62 votes. You are talking
Edited on Tue Dec-14-10 06:25 PM by BzaDem
about the 2003 tax cut package.

14. Actually, most of what we are addressing was in the 2001 tax bill (such as the top rates, etc).
