"I wasn't qualified for this position in the first place. And this case is way beyond anything I an capable of dealing with. Please somebody, remove me from this case. What more do I need to do to show you?"

(15,535 posts)She knows what Trump wants: delay, delay, delay, plus any excuse to simply throw the whole case out.
Its easy enough for her to handle on her own without coordinating with anyone else.

(804 posts)Cannon is not that bright and very inexperienced; she surely has not been able to come up with all these clever strategies and arguments on her own.
There can be little doubt that Leonard Leo and minions at the Federalists, Fitton at Heritage, and magas have been coaching her. Her team has slyly thwarted Jack Smith by avoiding appealable orders. He has not filed motions to remove her because of fear that he will lose in Appeals.
I fear it is score 1 for team Federalist and 0 for Smith.

(8,992 posts)Someone from the Federalist Society is advising her on how to respond to each issue, when to respond and sometimes why that response was made.
Shes hoping for 45 to get reellected and put her on SCOTUS.
She may as well be sitting on 45s lap.

(1,591 posts)to get her replaced. Don't know if it's feasible or if Cannon has been too egregious or just cautious enough.
Infuriating.

(2,202 posts)I wonder if he was worried that getting her taken off the case would have delayed things past November. He might have miscalculated* how much stalling she would actually do.
Now that it appears that the case won't be decided until after the elections, he might go ahead to try to get her removed anyway. Or maybe not. I have no doubt that he is doing the best he can with the hand he's been dealt.
*I honestly doubt this, though. I think he is super competent. Still, he's only human and can make a mistake now and then.

(1,310 posts)She's tried to squash the case from the very beginning when she ruled that the case had to be assigned to a "special master" and then was strongly overruled.
Jack Smith is smart and knows the ins and outs of the system, I assume that the fact that he hasn't already tried to have her removed means that whoever would make that decision is not favorably disposed and it probably wouldn't work.
But, this case is going nowhere along as long as Cannon is assigned to it, which is frustrating as hell because it's the evidence is a complete slam dunk. Trump would already be convicted of these charges if not for Cannon.

(3,989 posts)This is the flaw of our federal judiciary appointments. There are no qualifications except that the President decides if it is politically expedient for him. And if you have a partisan congress, everyone gets in who they think they can use.
I'm for setting a specific list of qualifications and thresholds that candidates must meet to get on a list of potential appointees from which the president must use to choose.
We're stuck with this one, a waste of taxpayer money for an incompetent political appointee who can't run a courtroom and doesn't know the law.
