Judge Juan Merchan banned additional photos from the courtroom after a pool photographer snapped a shot of the former president from the aisle while walking to the area set aside for journalists, known as the well.
A court officer notified reporters that photographers cannot take any more pictures of Trump from the well after the judge learned of the violation of his rule.
News organizations typically pool their resources and take turns shooting photos or video, if allowed, from inside the courtroom due to space constraints and to cause minimal disruption to the proceedings, and then share the results.Link to tweet

This case will be appealed but the judge is going by the book, I think, to not cause a legal problem and give any reason for overturning whatever verdict is handed down.

on the off chance someone were to take a shot of a witness or juror. That's why we get the courtroom sketches.
