the jury knows who she is. the issue isn't whether she is a nice person. it's not even whether she had sex with the loser.

it's whether he wanted to keep the story about him having sex with her secret badly enough to pay her off. they have established that. he paid her. now it's about why he is trying to keep that story secret.

She is testifying he did try to keep it secret. They are reinforcing that. Did she try to make money? Who cares. The jury is hearing trump entered into an agreement to keep the story quiet. A story he didn't care was quiet before he ran for office, then cared a great deal about when he was.

Her part in this is just documentary. Tearing her apart doesn't tear apart the story.

The defense is just playing to trumps ego.
