Kind of sad for these famous cartoon characters.

70 % of Americans support a womans right to choose but that voting block that turned out
consistently post the overturning of Roe v Wade to vote for womens rights to health care but
in the Presidential election of 2024 that vote just disappeared.

(84 posts)My hopes are in the research of SmartElections.us and ElectionTruthAlliance.org (ETA). The statistical data shows strong evidence of a great deal of vote manipulation. On August 29 SmartElections' lawsuit against Rockland County, New York continues. ETA states they hope to file their first lawsuit by the end of August (probably one county in Pennsylvania). The evidence of vote manipulation in many states is extensive. The proof is in successfully suing a relevant county to allow a forensic audit with the actual ballots.
I think when an audit proves vote manipulation in one county things will begin to snowball towards proving a stolen election.

(31,043 posts)I'm going to Hawaii! for my 70th birthday! (surprise from my wonderful children) for the first time, and I'll be visiting Pearl Harbor to memorialize my father, who was there that day in in 1941 on the USS California.
Although it was first thought that he had perished in the attack, he was alive and well and went on to serve throughout the Pacific for the rest of the war. Later he was on the USS Lexington when it was sunk in the Coral Sea.
He saw a lot and he did a lot during that war. Dad I promise you it wasn't for nothing.
It was for democracy and freedom. It was for the United States of America, not the disunited states of Dystopia.

And I just read up front he published that book at 24. He had a really good take on human nature.
Highly recommend his books.

(137 posts)"Up Front" Preface
"Some say the American soldier is the same clean-cut young man who left his home; others say morale is sky-high at the front because everybody's face is shining for the great Cause."
"They are wrong. The combat man isn't the same clean-cut lad because you don't fight a kraut be Marquis of Queensberry rules. You shoot him in the back, you blow him apart with mines, you kill or maim him the quickest and most effective way you can with the least danger to yourself. He does the same to you. He tricks and cheats you, and if you don't beat him at his own game you don't live to appreciate your own nobleness."

(24,520 posts)About 30 years ago, I moved to Long Island, a suburb of NYC. There were lots of military vets and most of the ones I met loved Rush Limbaugh and they were solid conservative Republicans. I actually lived in the district that elected George Santos!
These veterans did not reflect the soldiers in the cartoon. Not by a long shot. Glad i moved back to NYC where were Democratic and liberal!

(7,501 posts)He father got him two deferments. When the military came calling my dad told my grandfather, "All my friends are serving. It's time for me to go." It was one of the last times they spoke face to face as my grandfather died less than a year later from a brief illness.
Dad never regretted his decision. He fought and slogged through the Battle of the Bulge. He was proud to serve. Rarely would he talk about his was experiences and I imagine what he saw would be too much for me to handle. I think he told me he came home on the Queen Mary.
