Randi Rhodes on Al Franken accusations: "He is not a sexual predator"
Surprisingly sympathetic.
Considering the bad blood these two had at AAR, she goes out of her way to say he was never predatory to women at the network. She also thinks this is retaliation for his Sessions grilling: &feature=youtu.be&a

1. His manning the point in going after Sessions was the first thing I considered
The targeting of Franken is both symbolic and pragmatic. It's tangential to investigating your political enemies after entering office -- an autocratic/fascist move Trump has been itching to exercise against Hillary Clinton since before the election -- but its aims are pretty much the same. Just remove all opposition by hook or crook to make your political path as smooth as possible.

4. I'll also add Franken was a fool
He was already a target of the right in 2006. His books were on the shelves. His dust-ups with Bill O'Reilly were well known. He already had an association with Air America Radio.
I have to wonder if he considered he was likely surrounded by folks who would blow out of proportion anything he did. How foolhardy. |

5. i remember how she really resented him
getting top billing and all the notoriety on air america. he was absolutely not her favorite person.
this was wonderful --what she came out and said & explained. (although she's preaching to the choir for the most part) thanks for putting this thread up. |

7. This was the first time I'd checked on her in several years
I was curious how she'd react to her old enemy's scandal.
Not only was I surprised, but I realize now how much I've missed her since AAR ended. Sure, she could be frustrating as all get out at times and stirred up too much drama around the network (much like a certain Mr. Olbermann), but she's one of the good ones. Someone get this woman a bigger platform. She's needed. |
