WASHINGTON Republican U.S. Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska released a resolution Tuesday in an attempt to censure Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar following remarks she made about Jewish students during a visit to Columbia University last month.
The progressive lawmaker's comments at a university encampment on April 25 sparked criticism. Bacon's resolution, released during the week of Holocaust remembrance, is the latest GOP pushback.
During her visit, Omar, a vocal supporter of Palestinians, told a reporter that she met Jewish students at the protest and "all Jewish kids should be kept safe." She went on to say that "we should not have to tolerate antisemitism or bigotry for all Jewish students, whether they are pro-genocide or anti-genocide," a phrase that Republicans and others sharply criticized.
Bacon's resolution, shared with the Star Tribune, takes aim at those remarks and her "recent hateful comments and history of antisemitism."

(5,819 posts)I dont know what she intended to accomplish, but if the quote is accurate, her statement was not helpful, and however unintended, maybe even provocative.

(16,916 posts)There are those who don't believe there are good jews, but think they should be kept safe anyway.
Because politically they can't say otherwise.
Not saying who, just saying.

(5,818 posts)Not as official reps for the US, but to go behind the President's back and attempt to ruin his ability to treat with them? So I am supposed to be concerned about what they want to do to yet another government official because they are pissed that justice is coming to their god-king and they also know that the wheels of justice are not going to stop with that orange gibbon.
They know their time is coming to an end. And like most animals that hate to lose their 'supremacy', they are lashing out at whomever they can. To be honest, they all should have been charged with treason for that stunt, but of course, never gonna happen to one of them. You or I? Prison or death! The 'elite'? HAHAHAHA! Stupid peon!
