Biden on Trump: He 'didn't build a damn thing'

President Joe Biden on Wednesday cast a major new investment in battleground Wisconsin as emblematic of the nations economic comeback.
But the main thrust of his address wasnt so much to boast about the current climate as it was an attempt to contrast it with his predecessors record. Time and again, Biden took aim at former President Donald Trump, casting him as someone who talked but didnt deliver.
Even the setting of the speech itself was meant to deliver the point: Biden was highlighting a new Microsoft data center that would be built on grounds where then-President Trump announced that Foxconn would build a $10 billion factory for making LCD panels. That plant was never built, even after the Taiwanese electronics manufacturer received millions in subsidies and bulldozed homes and farms to build the factory.
He promised a $10 billion investment by Foxconn. He came with your senator, Ron Johnson, with a golden shovel and didnt build a damn thing, Biden said. They dug a hole with those golden shovels and then they fell into it.

(111,521 posts)Glitzy retailers have fled, the restaurant has closed, the glitterati of NYC who bought in the 80s and 90s are now aging and out of the news and their kids rightfully don't want to live in a vulgar skyscraper, no matter what the address is. There are no buyers who will pay what anyone thinks their apartments ought to be worth. The public areas are now closed to the public and the waterfall has been turned off. It's a dying building, even though it's probably got another few decades of useful life in it before the plumbing and wiring start to fail and the elevators break down and the rising water table plays hell with the foundation..

(16,705 posts)When he was a real estate developer, he built a few big, flashy buildings, using millions of dollars of other people's money that he avoided paying back to the greatest extent possible. That was his only claim to fame when he decided to run for potus, that and a cheesy TV game show that portrayed him as the amazingly successful businessman he wished he was.
It doesn't surprise me one bit that a totally self-absorbed individual with no understanding of how government works accomplished so little in office. Even if he had truly been the genius businessman he was portrayed as on TV, it's not possible to run the federal government like a family business, which is what the Trump Organization was and is.
So of course he "didn't build a damned thing" as potus. Extreme narcissism and profound incompetence are a very bad recipe for accomplishing anything of value.

The people who should soak up this message as new and important information though, well, they aren't listening.
The gloves are off, more of this Joe, you may get through to them.
